Check your homeowners insurance. Mine will cover up to $5000 worth of camera equipment.

I'm no pro, but I agree. Stopped props just don't look right (in my opinion) on an aircraft in flight or taxiing.

Yes, my Nikon D3100 is gray market, no problems at all.

Is you Avatar really Jeff Gordon? Big fan.

No, it's yours truly. Cost $500 but I got to drive 8 hot laps at Pocono. Played "follow the leader", but I was in the car alone, and had it up to 165 down the front straight.

Hi, I love shooting action and love to try to convey that in my shots! I have a coffee and ice cream concession trailer and travel to a lot of events. We spend the winter at Sebring International Raceway but home is in Atlanta. Here a couple of shots from the last trip to Sebring. Look forward to your comments.

Great pictures. Really like the night shot. Based on my Avitar picture, it's safe to assume I love racing. When I was young, single, and had money to burn, I used to race in the old Camel GT series. (1972).

I read the latest topic about what to buy for an external hard drive to store photos. I really didn't understand a whole bunch of the answers but I'm circling the edges. I have a Mac laptop 4G and I already have about 25,000 pictures stored. But I definitely feel a slow down. First question: Can a flash drive hold this amount? Second question: What "strength" external drive do I need to store this many? Stop laughing at the word strength. I don't understand the real lingo. Thanks to those who can simplify this
for me. Cindy

Cindy, here's a "primer" on storage terms that will help you out.
1 KILOBYTE (1KB) is 1000 Bytes.
1 MEGABYTE (1MB) is 1000 KILOBYTES.
1 GIGABYTE (GB) is 1000 MEGABYTES.
1 TERABYTE (TB) is 1000 GIGABYTES.
A BYTE is the basic unit of storage and composed of 8 bits.

JPG pictures are about 6 MEGABYTES (MB) each, or at least that's how big they are on my camera. (D3100). So, 25,000 pictures at 6MB each equals 150,000 MB, or 150 GB. The numbers do get large. I'd go for a 1TB external USB (Universal Serial Bus) drive.

Hope this helped.

How did you know I had no idea about all that byte talk? I wasn't going to go there but I am so glad you wrote it out for me. I'm copying that table and carrying it with me until I get it straight. Thank you so much!

Western Digital id a very good hard drive. If your PC (or MAC) has USB3 go for a USB3 drive of 1 terabyte. Can never have too much storage.
