Welcome to the Hog, BTW I get up your way a lot in the summer, Accord,
Bob.

Bob,
Thanks for the warm welcome. Everyone has been so nice in welcoming me and I noticed an air of respect in discussions, which makes it comfortable to join forums. I'm looking forward picking everyone's brains for the best information relating to photography. Do you ever get up this way in the fall for the changing of the leaves? It's such a beautiful time and fantastic for a photographer.
Hope to see you around,
laura

Thank you. He was very special. I adopted him and his sister from the local pound but had to put him to sleep 5 months later due to cancer. I still have the sister plus 21 other cats, a dog (Golden Retriever mix), 6 birds and a fish tank.

Love your baby's photo!

I'm sorry, I had to do the same a couple of a years back with my cocker spaniel and it's not easy. That's Josie in the pic. She's my nine year old baby.

Welcome to the Hog, Lala. Sit with your camera on your lap and the manual in hand. Read the manual as you look at your camera. Try out the various settings for at least the first several chapters. Shoot lots of pics and when you have a specific question consult your manual and/or start a post for answers. A great book that will help you is Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Exposure". It is recommended highly by nearly everyone. ;)

Hi and thanks for the great advice. I never thought to go through the manual with the camera, that makes so much sense. Also, I'll definitely check out "Understanding Exposure", every bit will help.
Thanks again,
LaLa

Hey Pittsburg, I've read the manuals and I did come across a video here and there but I'll do a more thorough search. Thanks for the advice and suggestions. I plan on making this a fun experience...no work here.

Thanks, it looks great. I'll be spending some time reading and understanding everything, but I'm eager to learn so I can get off auto as soon as possible.

Hi everyone, I'm Laura Delehanty and I'm from Kingston, NY. I'm a bit nervous, but have been following some of the topics the last few days. Everyone seems very nice, supportive and friendly on the Hedgehog. I joined mainly because I just received the Canon EOS 70d and I'm a little overwhelmed. Any advice or tips would be greatly accepted. I look forward to meeting some of you and hopefully see you in a chat/forum.
