I live in Chapel Hill and, as an amateur, have been taking shots in the area. Visit my website ( barrypictures.com ) to see some of them. The Anderson Park ones are in Carrboro... which is attached to CH.

The UNC campus will give you many good ops... including the cemetery where Charles Kuralt lies. The NC Botanical Gardens is in CH. I recently walked the Mason Farm Biological Preserve for pics. Meadows and woods... but interesting shapes of death trees and vines in the wood... some on my website.

On a Sat am, the Carrboro Farmer's Market could allow for some interesting shots. I haven 't done that but intend to.

I may think of more.

You are right. In this case, the pencil is the better of the two.

Tell us what you used.

I generally don't care for the pencil-sketch renditions. But yours is a knock-out. I'd love to see the original.

Should you go with Lightroon... now or later... I (personally) recommend checking Anthony Morganti's YouTube tutorials. There are many on various aspects of Lightroom and extremely valuable... IMHO.

And you can get a 30-day free trial.

Thanks for your reply.

Re: Tamron 16-300... I bought it and tried it out a bit. Seems good. But it won't be mine till July 3rd when my wife gives it to me for out 50th anniversary. Same goes for her diamond earings!!!

More info re: my question...

Just got a Tamron 16-300. If can get the same result by processing w/Lightroom CC... I could get a (less expensive) UV/Protection filter rather than a more expensive Polarizing filter. so basically... might Lightroom simply duplicate the Polarizing filter?

That's why I asked.

Thanks

I'm interested in your opinions regarding the need for a polarizing filter (on my new lens) as opposed to processing pics without the filter using Lightroom CC.

Thanks

Continuing my question from a week or so ago...

Have Nikon d7100 with 35mm prime lens and 55-200mm zoom. Does anyone have any experience with the Tamron 16-300mm lens? Thinking it could replace the 55-200. (50th anniversary present.)

Thanks....

Thanks again. But I think I have found it. In the Tools Meny... the Mask Overlay option was (some changes) onto Red. I changed it to White and it seems to now be working correctly now. Let's hope.

No... that's not it. And I find the same thing with the graduated filter. Some setting must be suddenly wrong. But... which one???

Suddenly the sliders for my Brush Tool are not working. The files are RAW. They've worked like a charm until now. When I brush an area, I get a slight red tint where I've brushed... and that's all. It won't change the exposure... or anything else.

Does anyone else have that going on... or know why it's happening?

Thanks... Barry

Thanks all of you for your thoughts. A lot of options... including the trip suggestions. Got one on tap in Vermont (from Chapel Hill) in early Sep.

If you have a few minutes... take a look at my new website barrypictures.com I'd welcome comments.

We were there a lot of years ago... during a drought... and were able to walk out to it!

Nice shot.

Last Nov. I gave my daughter my Canon G11... and got a Nikon D7100 with 2 lenses. 1) Nikon 35mm (1.8) DX... and... 2) Nikon 55 - 200mm (4.5) DX.

I shoot anything and everything, A to Z.

What lens would you go to, to expand... considering I shoot everything. (Not a pro)
