Within the next few weeks my family is meeting in VT. One son lives there and another coming from CA. First time in this area since 1956.

A member of my family was a geologist and he graduated from UC Berkley in the in the early 30's. He could stand in his kitchen and tell you how far down and the direction of the quake.

He always owned land in an area where quakes did not occur.
He was aware of how often or seldom quakes occurred.

No & So CA always had strict building codes since 1906 and the l930's due to damages.

Saw where Napa has about 4 Billion in losses.

Went to Best Buy and they fixed the PC and used WEBROOT.
I've been using Norton for past 6-7 yrs. I did not back up my Windows 7 Home Premium. Never had any problems.

But of course SF gets its 1st earthquake in 25 yrs.

So the shutdown was my EQ.

My desktop PC was completely shut down. I was one of the 1.2 Billion. Ran security each and every morning but wound up with numerous viruses and had to have PC cleaned out.

Could not login. Never had this happen in 20 years.

Learned a lot from this experience. :thumbup:

British Open winner (Our relative), threw out the first pitch at Dodger Stadium. She accepted the invitation of the Dodger mgt.
She was an unknown until 2 weeks ago. Now is famous. A graduate of UCLA.

When I was younger, as a lefthander, in baseball I only had 3rd base power. Lived across from a course and was told by the "welcome wagon" lady I could be taught. Never signed up.

This young lady is #1 in driving the ball, for accuracy, but only 232 yards. She is 5'2". Others can drive it 280 yards. she does about 1.86 putts per hole. She averages 71.71 per round.

Her family went to many weekends over the past 6 years.

She was on the Ladies Future Tours for 3 yrs.

Has played 17 tournaments this year.

A young lady who has been MO-tivated since she was nine years old has won the LPGA British Open 2014. Her 1st LPGA win. She has one top 10 placements in 2 1/2 yrs, pror to Sundays dramatic finish. She had an "eagle" on the 15th hole, par 5. The only player to go under par for the 4 days of play. She was a -1.

My wife and I are related to her.

So this is the end of my 9th year in NM. Came here to stay on 6-05-2005, 10:00 AM. First full day was 6-06 (D-day.)

Was in the USN (6-06-1961) in Cambodia. First USN ship ever to visit. Used French navigational map of 1906, to get there.

There has been a group of courses at MIT.EDU that have been available for about 10 years, free to the public.

Called "Open Curse Ware". No credit, but covers numerous departments of MIT. These are completed courses and new ones are available each year.

Checked out this day and still exists.

You may learn something.

Far beyond me. But, I thought maybe someone out there may find something that they can use.
