I have a Df.
When I mount my Micro Nikkor Auto 2.8 D, The lowest aperture I can get in the viewfinder is 5.6, and it says I am getting f64 at the other end. My other lenses work fine. Is the information passed through the electrical contacts? Could it be that they are just dirty?

Help please.

I have this lens and have used it a number of times on my Df with no problems. It is a fun lens to use! It has been quite awhile since I have used it though. I should probably sell it.

I'm not sure but, I think they can overlay current images over images from the past and they use those marks to line everything up. Then they can spot buildings and sheds that have been built without permits or approval.

You are correct!

If it is missing the slide I would toss it. I want my cards to be 100%, all the time. My camera has only one slot, so I only get one chance.

Having already ruined 2 binoculars and a riflescope, I am adamant of messing with camera lenses.
And here you are upgrading them. Thats cool!

What's with the 43-86mm? why not that one?

I have a background in jewelry making and repair, which enables me do attempt lens modifications that aren't probably practical for many people. Both the skills and the tools help. If you add a CPU chip to a lens it allows that lens to function as a "G" lens. It "talks" to the camera, and you get EXIF data for the shot. You just have to focus. I have "chipped" a 16, 23, 50, 85, 100, 135 and 200.

The chip can only communicate one focal length, so it doesn't give you accurate data on a zoom lens. That, plus the fact the the 43-86 is really soft at all apertures and focal lengths has led me to simply not bother to install a chip. Hopefully that answers your question.

Interestingly, I don't use either a 28 or 35 very often. I own a couple of 28s, but haven't bothered to install a chip since they are rarely, if ever, used.

My first camera was a Nikkormat FTn. It came with a 43-86 f 3.5 lens. I am reasonably sure that I haven't used it in at least a couple of decades. I have a handful of other "legacy" lenses, some of which I have added a CPU chip to. I do use these lenses frome time to time, but the 43-86, never.

My first reaction was to think it is a composite. The lighting is 'off'.

eBay definition:
There is no specific designation for NIB, which is usually used to mean New In Box. The do define "New" however as "New – A brand-new, unused, and unworn item (including handmade items) in the original packaging" and New (other) as:
"New (other) – An item with no sign of wear and tear that is missing its original packaging, or the original packaging has been opened and is no longer sealed". To get any better answer you would probably need to post the entire listing.

When we had the Z demos a couple of years ago I took the Samyang 14mm along and it did not work . Sent the Z into lockdown. But things have moved on and if it will work via its lens chip then its a big tick towards getting a Z.
I know I can get a $40 dumb mount but would prefer the auto exposure mode.
I could change the chip to one from "Nikon Gear" which I am told works with FTZ.

I have 'chipped' most of my manual lenses using the "Ukranian" chips. Andrei is great to work with. Is there another source of chips? You mention "Nikon Gear", but a search comes up blank.
