I am always amazed that reasonable people and very experienced photographers do not think about the movement of the camera when holding it, at these high magnifications. Pick up a pair of binoculars, maybe 10x or 20x and try to hold the image still. Most likely even supporting the camera on a firm surface you can still see movement in the binoculars. (You can see a steady vibration, and realize that it is you heart beat!). If you want to shoot at these magnifications a (very good one!) tripod and remote shutter release are essential. I do own a Nikon P900 and love it. You just have to be realistic about the quality of the photo you will get with these extreme focal length lenses. IMO

I have purchased several Nikon lenses (used) from Japan (eBay) and absolutely no problems. I would consider my purchases to be as good or even better than from US or China. No sales tax, free shipping (very quick, longest ship time 8 days, shortest 5 days) equipment always as described. You need to know that Japanese photographers (amateur or professional) are fanatical about their equipment. If you see Japanese tourists, they will have a camera or several cameras and multiple lenses. They love to take pictures. I also use older lenses because I like the results I get with them and I do not believe that the newer lenses with less glass etc. are better than the older top of the line lenses, even though they cost 3 and sometimes 4 times as much as the older lens. Of course I know that what I have stated is from my perspective and a personal view point. Good luck for whatever you decide.

Since the front of your lens will suffer with various things blown, thrown, splashed, etc. This part will be cleaned over and over. I would rather replace the filter because of scratches or just general wear from cleaning off the front glass.

Do a search on ebay and you will lots of camera bags including quite a number of them like the photo. I have several and the cost is usually about $10.00 with free shipping from China. You can also find a number of them that are the same but priced higher. Arrival time is usually in the 10 days to two or three weeks. You will also see a number of different styles that might be more usable for your wife. I have been buying from eBay for some 20 years and have no problems. HTH

I have all Nikon equipment (D200 (backup for D700), D700, P900, and S9300 cameras, some 17 Lens. All Lense have UV or Clear glass filters. Three of the cameras were refurbished by Nikon and one was used from private party (P900). Each time I bought a camera they came with a battery and charger. So I would go on ebay and purchase after market batteries and chargers for either backups or regular use or both. I have 9 batteries and 4 chargers for the D200 and D700, 5 batteries (4 Vivitar) and 3 chargers for P900, and 5 batteries and 3 chargers for the S9300. The after market batteries and charger for the P900 comes with a cord that permits me to charge the batteries outside of the camera, that is a big plus. Also when I am out shooting I can charge any of the cameras with a car connection cord that came with the chargers that plugs into the 12v receptacle. (I also have a 115v outlet in my car).
I have not had any problems with these batteries or chargers. All of the after market batteries and chargers come with cords that permit charging in house and in car. I also have two battery banks (about $12 on ebay) for my phone but I have not tried to recharge a camea battery from it, but it may put enough charge in your camera battery to take some shots. BTY the only battery that I had a problem with was an EN-EL 3 from Nikon. Would not recharge after a year or so of use. HTH

Try Neewer (Brand name). I have purchased several heads, they all work just fine and for the price could not do better. IMO

I have used PSP since it's days as a shareware program right up to PSP 19 Ultra. Never had a problem with updates or running the program. I also use After ShotPro 3, again, no problems. When a problem comes up with an install of software, I would first contact the provider that I received it from and if no luck there I would call the software company. BTW I think that over time I have spent less on Corel processing software than I would have on Adobe products. Years ago if you used Adobe products you would have spent much, much more on your post processing software.

Meet in Bank, or Police Station. Arrive Much earlier than seller (or buyer) and leave after they do, and don't go home, go grocery shopping, etc. Of course it is up to you to take all precautions for your safety (not seller or buyer's). If you are elderly or handicapped it is doubly necessary to follow safety considerations. Take a younger, bigger, rougher. friend (or two).

Take a look at the Nikon D700. It is not the be all to end all, but it is a very capable camera, and it is full frame. So on you tube and you will find a number of videos on the D700 and it's usefulness and features. IMO

I am currently using a HP corded keyboard and HP corded mouse. Same problem as you describe mouse or keyboard stops working for no apparent reason. I have used Logitech keyboards/mice for many years. (first mouse required a printed mouse board for the mouse to locate its position.) I have just purchased a Logitech MK710 set of wireless mouse and keyboard, will see how this works out. I usually wear out the mouse before the keyboard and the setup wears out in three to four years. I use my computer for several hours (or more) every day. I am getting ready to upgrade my computer (desktop) so I may wait and put it on the new desktop. BTW I also use wireless mouse (Logitech) on my HP Laptop and Microsoft Surface Pro 3. I suspect that it is a problem either Windows 10 and/or USB connection. Try connecting using a different USB port. FWIW.

I keep my cameras in their padded cases, and the lenses ect. in my rolling photo case. If possible store as high as possible in your home, highest temperature spot. I look around for where I want to begin taking photos they are start unloading gear as needed. It will take a little experimentation to find the right combination of containers and time to wait before using the equipment. I always run the a/c both going out and coming back. I live in Corpus Christi, so I understand the problem.

Go on eBay and look for camera filter wrench. I buy half a dozen at a time and give them away to other photographers, at club meetings, photo shoots, etc. Cost about $1.50 to $2.00 each with free shipping. Might not cover all filter removals, but works most of the time. Works especially well for those very thin filters. Hope this helps. Take care and take photos!

You might want to look at fingernail polish. It does come in black and is extremely durable. Can be removed working carefully with fingernail polish remover. (it is typically made with olive oil and acetone. Try it out on something that is like the area that you want to cover. You could also try the manufacturer to see if they can recommend or supply a suitable covering agent.
