Great photography and great briefing on EAA / Airventure.
It is the ultimate for the aviation enthusiast. I have been 12 times since 1978, but my last Oshkosh was 10 years ago.
I need to plan on going to the 2019 event.
Thank you for your good work.

Nice photo of an airplane experiencing an engine failure, the prop is stopped. A shutter speed of 125 would have given some prop blur.

I also have always been fascinated with trucks, tractors, and airplanes but knew very little about "road trains."
Thanks for the photos and information.

North American T-6 landing at Heber, Utah and flown by Barry Handcock with front seat pilot Andrew Marvin getting checked out in the airplane.
Photographed at 1/60 second at F16 with a Canon 7D behind a Canon 100-400mm lens and a steady hand for a 74 year old photographer.

I have published a book titled "San Rafael Swell Off Road" which is available in museums Price, Green River, Castle Dale, and Back of Beyond Books in Moab. It is titled Off Road because I-70 and the Moore Cut Off are the only paved roads in the Swell, but more than half the roads are suitable for automobile travel in good weather. The area has not gotten a lot of photographic attention and never as crowded as the National Parks.

On the north side of the San Rafael Swell is Utah's Little Grand Canyon. A canyon cut by the San Rafael River. The attached photos are from the Wedge Overlook which is easily accessible by automobile. There is a small campground at this rim location, but you need to bring your own water.

I-70 cuts through the middle of the 2,000 square mile San Rafael Swell. Lots of roads to explore and great photo opportunities that are not well known and crowded with people. A great guide book is available museums in the area and at the Back of Beyond book store in Moab. Moab and the Canyonlands NP is getting crowded and I prefer the exploring the San Rafael Swell based out of Green River or primitive camping in the "Swell."

I went into the area before it was a National Park and we camped at Cave Springs. It was quite an adventure back then just to get to Cave Springs anf over Elephant Hill. Over the years it has become a popular and now crowded destination. Winter is the best time of year get photos without crowds of people. I now prefer the Maze Distrect of the Canyonlands, The San Rafael Desert, and the San Rafael Swell. Spectacular and far less crowded.

while in Utah check out the San Rafael Swell west of Green River. It is 2000 sq miles of BLM land with fantastic landscape features. A guide book to the area is available at the Moab book store and museum in Green River. Photo ops that most people have not seen.

Moab is getting crowded with people and and all the major land marks have been photographed many times.
I would suggest an area west of Moab. Specifically, west of Green River, Utah (on I-70) known as the San Rafael Swell.
I guide book to that area titled San Rafael Swell Off Road is available at the Moab book store and Green River museum.
Despite the title of the book half the 42 destinations can be reached by 2WD vehicle with great photo opportunities.
