Ahhhhh …
The old 'my grandkid showed me how' explanation.
So many of us are using it now.

Agree.

But to counter that feeling, I go out and try to make a photograph that is even better than before!

(And it's sorta like flying - your first solo you grease it on. So beautiful, so smooth.
(And then it changes, you get a little sloppy, maybe even take a hard bounce or two.
(So then, you have to 'go back to basics'. Correct speed, line-up, flare, pay a little more attention….
(A lot of analogies!)

800-385-2155 - Canon sales
800-652-2666 - Canon service

Talk to either one and they might give you a direct email address, and you'll also get a follow-up email asking for 'customer experience'.

I, too, had an issue in my 60s. Left arm aching, hand tingling, etc. Went to urgent care and doc there looks at me at 6', 155#, avid bicyclist, and said 'you don't fit the profile. It's just bursitis'…and gave me cortisol in my shoulder.

Two weeks later, I had an elephant sit on my chest.

Luckily it only lasted less than a minute (I was hiking in the woods with my wife), and I continued on - and called my PCP when we got home. That became the beginning of a long - and good - relationship with a cardiologist.

Pay attention. Your body really *does* tell you what's going on - and don't be worried about looking like a wimp. I'd rather be a wimp and alive, than ...

This is what happens when a sport becomes big business and beholden to TV schedules.

A lot of truth in that statement - but -

The reason for the game rules changes are very simple: In today's 'gotta-have-it-now' society the games are simply too long for the average person. Viewership is falling as well as attendance. Even my beloved Fenway isn't selling out every game like it used to. What used to be a 2-1/2 hour game is now rarely less than three.

While decreasing attendance has its own reasons - mostly related to cost - the longer games benefit the advertisers with more ads being aired. However, with fewer viewers, the networks cannot charge as much - so they are losing money.

So, yes, the rule changes were a business (a.k.a. money) decision. But with shorter games, the industry is hoping that attendance and viewership will return to what it used to be, and they will once again be called "America's Game".

Easier said than done. Most of those concept cars had sheet metal which didn't lend itself to mass production; too many draws, and complications. Steel stampings just couldn't be held to such exotic specifications. Note that some of the glass was just as complicated, and plastics were still years out from practical usage. And a lot of those concepts just couldn't translate into buildable safety features. Another was the attempted use of gas turbine engine power; it would never be practically used, since its exhaust was dangerous, to lethal, for cars following.

Most of these were exercises in design, and a lot of the details were incorporated into future standard models.

I spent nearly forty years in the auto industry, and I got a great education in production/design limits. I got to see some of the early Taurus/Sable designs, and they went through a number of iterations before the final designs were approved. Donald Peterson was the CEO during the time when the Taurus/Sable models came to market. He fought some pretty ugly battles with the executive design committee, which wanted to put sharp edges on what were fairly aerodynamic vehicles.

In the early 60s Chrysler put out a number of the turbine powered cars to consumers as 'test vehicles'. Someone in the apartment complex I lived in at the time had one for a few months. Very, uhh, 'odd' looking for the time, but style-wise it was the predecessor to the conventionally powered 300 series.

-And- there was also a movie made featuring the development of the Chrysler Turbine cars. Its co-star was Elvis Presley!

With a 1TB SSD in your M2 Air, you avoid the issue of slow SSD performance entirely. In fact, it is only the base M2 models with just 256GB storage (M2 MacBook Air, 13" M2 MacBook Pro, and M2 Mac mini) that are slow (lacking multiple NAND chips, they cannot be set up as a RAID array). Buying at least 512GB storage in these models will get M2 buyers a fast SSD configuration.

Jump to the M2 *Pro* SOC found in the 14" and 16" M2 Pro MacBook Pros and the M2 Pro Mac mini, and the story is different. You have to buy 1TB on M2 Pro SOC-equipped Macs in order to escape the slow storage issue.

This is a subtle way Apple raises the average selling price well above the starting price. Casual users can buy the base units and probably won't know the difference. Power users should budget for at least 1TB storage and at least 16GB memory.

So, Bill, this raises a question I have... (not restricted to Bill - anyone can answer!)

I'm likely going to be away from my 'main' computer (a 16g/1tb M1 Mini w/27" screen, etc) for a several weeks. Rather than take the whole kit and caboodle with me, I have been considering a MacBook Pro. I am certainly not a *power* user, and primarily use my computer for LR work and rarely use PS.

Could I get by with an 'older' M1 MBP with the 16/1 configuration, or should I spend the extra bucks for an M2?

Saw it. Bought it a couple of weeks ago. No problems. Version 16.69.1 (Word - haven't used Excel or anything else in the package yet).
Only issue, I think, is that it probably will never be able to be updated from 2021 version. For some like me, I doubt if that will be a problem.

Oh, BTW, "$49.99 for two days" went to "$39.99 for …" (with a service charge of a couple of bucks).

Might work too, but in another country, wouldn't one be roaming?

No - roaming starts when your provider looks to connect with you to place a call to find out where you are and if you're available, and actually is going on almost 24/7. It originates at the 'home' location where your plans is based and uses a 'spider' type daemon to reach further and further away until you are located at that time.

My daughter's husband travels more than occasionally to England, and uses a plan that cost about $10.00/day that allows him to call home daily. I think his carrier is Verizon, but most likely other carriers will offer similar plans. The plan is not a permanent one, and he only activates it when he is planning to use it - maybe 30-45 days a year. Not as cheap as waiting for free WiFi, but very convenient.

Probably use "no roaming". Don't know what it actually called. Roaming charges are what kill the budget.

I bought extra set of batteries and a couple of chargers for Canon LP-E6s, the battery that is now pretty standard in the Canon line.

*One* of the chargers said something like: "If removing the unit from the outlet with battery still loaded, wait a moment or two before touching the [plug-in part] - there may be a residual charge until the [electronics] completely damp any [reverse flow] of energy."

Their translation to English was probably a little better than my memory, but the gist is that it is possible to get a shock, therefore the charger is likely drawing down the charge.

So, as Bison Bob said: It depends!

This from CBS News:

A hiker died Saturday after he fell off the summit of a New Hampshire mountain as he was taking pictures with his wife, officials said.

The couple were at the top of Mount Willard around 10:30 a.m. when the unidentified man fell over the edge and down a steep cliff, NBC Boston reported.

Mountain Rescue Service personnel rappelled down the cliff and found the hiker dead about 2:30 p.m., about four hours after he fell, the station reported. He was about 300 feet below the summit.

The rescue team raised the man's body back up the summit and took it to the trailhead parking area about 6:45 p.m., NBC Boston reported.

Further information was not immediately available Monday morning. A representative for the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department could not immediately be reached for comment.

The death is at least the second this year on the 2,815- foot mountain in Crawford Notch State Park.

In February, a 67-year-old man died as he was hiking up Mount Willard to go ice climbing, CBS Boston reported at the time.

The man has been identified as retired railroad engineer, Joe Eggleston, 59.
