Hey Superfly-don't blow up at me! I corrected immediately and quoted the incorrect post. Keep reading before incendiary comments.

Ron, great pics documenting the unbelievable project of restoring this magnificent ship. I've watched this over the years. Keep up the great work.

I just spent another small fortune on another lens - a Nikon Z 70-200 f/2.8 VR lens (my cameras are a Z6ii and a Z7ii). Uses a 77 mm filter size. I was looking for filters and I see them priced all over the map - from USD $7-ish up to about $50. I have always thought UV filters were primarily to protect the lens - I really don’t know that they do anything else. But does anybody have any idea how to determine if the more expensive ones are worth the additional money. What do you get for a more expensive one?

Jeff, you will get quite a bit of blowback for even using a filter. Forget about it.
I have always used B+W XP Pro UV or Clear filters on my lenses. Primarily to protect them. I have had three occasions since 2006 where the camera dropped and the filters broke, but not the lens. Good enough for me.
Now that we have the mirrorless cameras, UV filtering is no longer required. But does not mean that using a UV will not work as well as a clear regarding your images.
Next up is your question regarding quality of filter. Anyone who has done a deep dive into image degregation using a filter has found that high quality glass will not affect the image--but poor filter quality glass definitely will.
I just purchased a Z 24-120mm and put on the B+W XP Pro 007 that I kept from other sold 77mm lenses.
The 'same' new is now the Master series.

Reads like OP was asking for "opinions", not advice.
She carefully does not say stick with Mac, that is a sign of a good open mind.
I have Adobe Bridge already but do not use it. I like to walk in the water.

"What would you suggest for a new computer for processing photo's using Lightroom and Photoshop."
My opinion is that providing advise is not different than offering one's opinion.

1. There is no relevant info if she wants a good variety of options.
2. There is quite a bit of information in this mess of replies.
3. I had supper while you all were corresponding.
4. Her reply can only stifle the discussion.

Thanks for your feedback Boris.
'Her reply can only stifle the discussion.'
I thought the OP was asking for advice. One usually responds to questions in order to better provide options.
So, business as usual I guess. Say whatever you want regardless of actual 'needs'.
When you are ready, I have a Bridge to sell you. Don't worry about missing it during dinner. There is always one around.

So we have 3 pages of replies/advice. Yet not one more posting from the OP with requested or relevant info.
Why?

Not sure why I am actually replying--I must be nuts.
So, the car I purchased 8 years ago cost $50,000. According to your numbers..that same car will cost $87,500 today.
Since I'm giving my car to my daughter-ipso facto-I am willing to spend $87,500 for a new car today.
Your logic makes no sense.
First, Apple's pricing has not increased 75% for the 'same-updated product'.
Second, nothing you say indicates what the OP is willing to spend today.
And while the Studio may be an excellent choice-so is a Mini-so is a 15" MacBook Air w/M2-1TB/16-24MB/Apple Refurbished--the same or less than the 'original' $2000.
But all this is a true waste of time until the OP states their minimum requirements.

The OP has an Imac 27" which was about $2000 and with inflation the price is about $3500 today. So a Mac Studio for $2000 and the Studio display for $1600 is about the same money.

Huh?
And completely irrelevant.

What would you suggest for a new computer for processing photo's using Lightroom and Photoshop? I have a Nikon D850 and shoot in RAW and use an external hard drive. I currently have the iMac 27" which my husband will inherit! I've been using iMac for the past 15 years but open to anything you'd suggest. Thanks in advance for your input!

You need to set up some restrictions for the best advice.
- Are you staying with Apple/Mac OS?
- Do you have budget restrictions?
- Do you have space restrictions?
- Do you need to edit videos?
Once you communicate this; you should get viable alternatives for your requirements.
