Thanks all for the input, patience isn't one of my virtues though. I should have worded my post a little differently. Who has received their D850 in the past 30 days, where did they order it from and how long was the pre-order wait?
Tom
No, I just checked with B&H and Adorama but I'll check Amazon too.
Tom
They must have just received their shipment with few folks on the pre-order list to getit that fast. The guy told me that there were only 5 on the list when I talked to them but they didn't have any in stock then. Well you have had it for a couple weeks, are you happy with the D850? I did order mine through Adorama, I hope I don't have to wait too long, big expence for a retired guy.
Tom
Hi al, I am looking into purchasing he Nikon D850. It looks like no one has this in stock and you need to pre-order the camera. My question is has anyone ordered this through Adorama and what was your wait time to get the camera? The sales guy told me 1-2 weeks but then that was a sales person. I'm a &H fan bit they hint 3 months or more due to the backlog.
Cheers
Tom
Hi all, this is my first photo post. We went camping up north (Arizona) and got this shot of a dragonfly. I didn't have tripod so I did my best handheld, shutter priority and manual focus on the D750. I used the Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 G2 lens at 200mm.
Thanks all,
I looked at the Pro-100 at Best Buy yesterday and they had several recently printed pictures there that looked really good. They didn't mention any rebates but I see now that there is a hefty rebate on this printer at B&H, My favorite place to shop camera gear. Does anyone have any comments on their Pro-100? The tanks are a bit pricey, any experience on how many prints I could expect from a fresh set of tanks?
Hi all. It's time to replace my old Canon S9000 which is not producing acceptable prints anymore. I have cleaned the heads several times and the first couple prints are good but the next day, the color is all off. I print mainly for my own use and family. Would be nice to find newer printer that used the same BCI-6 ink cartridges. Any recommendations?
My current card will only do 2560x1600, it was a good card in it's day. Can you be more specific in the actual model number of your card? There are multiple versions of that card. What port do you use, HDMI 2.0 or the Display Port? What size screen do you use and why did you select that size over possibly a larger one? Thanks, Tom
Thanks all for your comments. There was an error in my monitor size, it's actually a 37" Vizio. The size was nice when I was working in that I could have multiple applications running at the same time (Power point, word, excel and others). Being retired, I don't need to run several applications anymore bit the larger screen is nice. I was considering a 4K TV but wanted to see what others were using. I shoot with the Nikon D750. I'll probably need to look at a new graphics card too for a 4K monitor.
Hi all, I am currently using a 1080P HDTV as the monitor for my photography work. The input is through the HDMI out of the computers video card. What benefits would I get if I was using a computer "monitor" instead of the HDTV? I mainly shoot landscapes and wildlife and the images look fine to my old eyes. I share the files with family and do print out some of the better ones for my own album or frame them. Being retired, I do like the larger display of the 32" HDTV.
Thanks all for the recommendations. I will take both the 90mm Macro and the 70-200 zoom so I
can try out both. I'm getting the annual pass so I can go back and perfect my shots. Tom
Hi all, I am planning to visit the Butterfly Wonderland this weekend and would like some recommendations. I plan
on using my Tamron 90mm macro and wondered if I should also take my 24-70 lens too or possibly my 70-200. All
these are f2.8 lenses. Has anyone been to this exhibit and what settings do they find useful in capturing the butterfly's?
From what I read so far they don't allow tripods but monopods are Ok. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Tom
Thanks all, I tried the healing brush in PS and it got rod of it although it seems to leave a bit
of artifacts in there. I shoot Raw but the better half isn't interested in dealing with Raw files. I
did manage to turn off the date stamp in the setup menus.
For fun, I put my 28-300 lens on the camera and it worked fine. I took a couple pictures and
she was impressed. The lower zoom has VR but the longer one doesn't. I was thinking of possibly
getting her the 18-270 Tamron, what do you guys think? THis is probably a lot better than the kit
lenses.
Hi all, the better half decided on the Nikon D3400 and has enjoyed the shots she has taken. Unfortunately the
Date/Time stamp was applied to the pictures. I turned this off in the camera but is there an easy way to delete
this from the pictures she has already taken? Is there an editor out there that can remove this from the EXIF data?
Thanks all for your input. My first thought was the D3400 as for some reason I favor Nikon. I'm not
sure how well a FX lens will work with the DX camera. I also need her to go with me to the store and
get the "feel" and weight of the different cameras. Thanks again the journey continues.
