Your quote. "The bird photo shown by someone here can very easily be done with a 6D MII or the R8." My response is YOU WISH. I will show you mine, you show me yours if you think you can match it with a Canon.
Your turn Mr. talking head without an image.

I'm not an expert bird photographer, but to say Canon cameras cannot take the same images as a Sony is just trolling. All of the leading brands take great photos in the hands of a photographer at the right place and time with some basic skills. Modern technology makes it easier and greatly increases the rate of "keepers".

Here are a few shots taken outside my patio in Estero Florida with a 9 year old lens. The first is sooc and the second is a crop and a few other I quickly grabbed for examples. I have plenty of examples of street photography, landscapes and video as well if you really need me to prove the point.

It sounds like they are targeting consumer applications, so high quality photography may not be impacted soon, but this is really wild:

I should have made my question more clear. I certainly have read the manual, and know about the DOF Preview button and use Focus Peaking.

I want the numerical value for the DOF shown in the viewfinder. I want to know quickly that my 85mm at f1.4 focussed at 5 feet has a DOF of .03 feet.

I’ve often wondered why they don’t have traffic lights on the runways.

We vacationed in Japan in November. I was impressed by Japanese culture of following rules. The fact that nobody tried bringing their bags and other stuff saved lives. I have to wonder if we Americans would do the same.

Personally I would sell all the bodies except for the RP while they are still worth something and use the money to upgrade lenses.

It is magical. It allows you to shoot at high ISOs and crop and upscale quite a bit with little to no loss in quality. The one thing I will say is that it really likes a fast video card for the AI processing. Be sure to use the trial to decide if your computer processes images in a reasonable amount of time.

I wish my Canon cameras displayed the depth of field in the viewfinder. It would be a trivial software feature. With today's fast zoom lenses that focus closely it is more important than ever to know.

Do other brands offer this feature? Am I missing something?

I find it interesting that nobody here has mentioned that Amazon Prime includes unlimited photo storage that allows display and sharing on phones, computers and Amazon Fire equipped big TV screens without ads (yet).

The core point you are making is about kindness. Before we click send, we should ask ourselves if our comment is helpful and is it presented kindly. Too often social media is used by cranky people who don't care about the feelings of others. These are the people who usually will justify their self centered opinions at the expense of others.

The opposite side is this - when you are in the public, whether online or in the real world face to face, you will meet all kinds of people including assholes. We all want to live in a world governed by the golden rule, but our unfortunate reality is that it is ruled by the law of the jungle. Toughen up and don't expect everyone to be kind.

In any case, thank you for your thought provoking words. It will make at least some people think about how their posts affect others and make UHH a better place.
