Bob, I find you work consistently excellent and challenging in both its technical aspects and its emotion impact. I am awaiting your book on PS Techniques, should you decide to publish one. I think what you have done (also with the leaves a couple of days ago) prove that photography is, indeed, an art form worth pursuing. I look forward to your future displays of art. -Bill

If one is representing fact, as is supposed to occur in journalism or other instrument of record, the image should be factual. If one sees a photo of the US Capitol with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, one knows something has changed and reacts accordingly. If the presenter is offering art, then photography is akin to the older arts such as painting, in which the creator simply uses whichever brushes, colors and shapes are desired to develop whatever is seen in the mind. Viewer then accept or don't accept what is in front of their eyes. Doesn't seem that complicated to me.

What a delicate, carefully crafted set of images. Excellent - some of you best, with is saying something. Care to divulge the technique?

Most don't know that San Antonio is actually the seventh largest city in the country, yet we don't have the crime issues associated with a lot of other cities. Not that we don't have any, but you typically won't hear the same news that you hear about, well, you know. The Riverwalk is open, we don't do masks, prices are typically some of the lowest in the US, and the TexMex is as good as can be had. So, y'all c'mon down and have a good time!

Could the last one be the Chrysler Building, based on the shape of the spire?

I'll join in on the LD comments: been using LD for at least ten years (it seems to me), and have never had an issue. At one point, however, I made a mistake in the order and received the wrong ink, which was the one I had actually ordered in error. Speaking with the young lady in customer service was a most pleasant experience, and all they requested was that I return the incorrect cartridges in the box in which the correct ones arrived. Which I did. No questions, no expense, no anything except a very nice young person on the other end of the phone. Plus the inks have always worked well in my Pro 100s. I see no reason to change from a company like that.

In today's over-managed, brain-numbing TV world we see so many bland, repetitive and totally boring things. I enjoy images, of whatever nature, that can stimulate the curiosity to some degree. I enjoyed yours, in answer to your question.

I am not a fan of the word, but this image is, to me, evocative. It evokes interest in what goes on in the design of the white building and its cut-out for the walkers...all the pipes leading here and there, the wires into the windows on the second floor, etc. Each has its purpose, of course, but none is spelled out for the observer. You have to reach your own conclusions. IMHO, this is something a good image can do - make the observer think about what he or she is observing. Thanks for the little mental exercise this morning!

I often wonder what became of the Skyraider that sat near base headquarters at Nakhon Phanom Royal Thai AFB at the end of our presence there. It was entitled "Spirit of America" and it would be a shame had it just been torn apart for the metal. Anybody know?

The first one is one of the best bison shots I have ever seen. What a location, what an expression. Great shot and it should be on somebody's wall for sure!

The calm expression and beautiful fur brings the name "Grace" to me for not particular reason.

It is a shame that some cannot manage to keep their negative thoughts to themselves. //Upon looking at Colonel Wondrasek's input it occurred to me that if the many UHHers with military service, whether bare minimum or full career like many of us, would share their favorite images, the result would be a wonderful history of the last half-century or more of our nation's adventures (or misadventures?). Perhaps even a stand-alone military section. Comments, anyone?

When I was a lad (early 50s) my dad was stationed at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, on the staff of the Air University there. We lived on based not far from the flight line, and in the mornings when they B-25s were started there was no more sleep to be had. Those airplanes were LOUD, substantially more so that the C-45s and T-6s also there to provide aircraft for the student officers, most of whose were pilots, to use in maintaining their proficiency hours each month. They are indeed beautiful flying machines!

This is a massive plan that moves at less than congressional speed, if such a thing is possible. They are planning in terms of generations, not years, for completion. Since there were no known life images of Crazy Horse, the face is a composite image, looking to "where my people are buried" if I recall correctly. It is certainly a huge undertaking and will require a lot of time and money; its completion will depend on how dedicated its creators are to the project. When we were there a few years ago we got the impression that the dedication is there in aces. My wife and I won't live to see the end product, but the models are certainly impressive. Refusing government funds keeps the project under Native American control, they claim, and increases my willingness to contribute. Just an individual opinion...

Perhaps Cany's problem with moose sheds is that moose sheds may be transportable and therefore hard to find. The meeses perhaps could pick them up and carry them along on their travels. Some even may be tents and therefore not really sheds at all. The larger ones used by older meeses may be lean-to affairs that can be dismantled by nature when the weather changes and the moose has moved on to the great Shed in Moose Heaven. While on the subject of Meeses, I must confess to being relieved at the lack of definitive information regarding Moose Vomit Slime, which, if
proportional to the canine variety, would be impressive indeed, especially if one looses one's balance and slides through it! That would be rather hard to explain to one's wife upon returning to the human shed on Wisteria Lane. Those of us in the time block between 79 and 90 might find recovery somewhat troublesome.
