Eugene... I found this on another IR site that I am on about the D70.... Just thought it may be of some help to you...

It took a lot of searching on the Internet and various forums to find the best way that I've found to set custom white balance. +2 exposure then take custom balance off grass to more or less fill the frame (preferably in the sun). My converted Nikon D70 accepts it about 99% of the time, I used to have no end of bother before using this technique.

Beautiful set of pictures-I like the variety of subjects. The school house is impressive as an image but also for the construction and maintenance.
Swede

Thanks Swede.... The school is hard to photograph, as there is a road behind it, and a bunch of houses. Had to get just the right angle and do a little cropping. The school inside is just as it was in the day, all original. It's usually not open, but happen to be there one time when one of the park ranger was showing it to some people that wanted to rent it for a party. He invited us in and I took a few pictures, but not IR, had my regular camera at the time. These were all all taken with my Canon 60D, 590nm Super Color conversion.

Eugene... You can always try some of the other WB settings with some test shots. Like daylight, shade, cloudy, and ect.. You might find one that works better for you. IR is all about experimenting.... Good luck.

Colin: I use AWB and Photoshop, then a few last tweaks in Lightroom. I am no PS expert!!
But as I said I do not spend enough time on this to really get into the finer detail. Will have a look at DXO and see if it works for me. Thanks!

DwsPV.... Like Colin said, AWB usually isn't good. If your camera will allow it, you are better off to set a custom WB, not all IR cameras will let you do that though. Sunny green grass is usually the preferred IR WB. Other colors you can try are a white or grey card, and I've even tried black, but green works the best for IR. Shooting in raw also helps too, if your camera will let you. If you have any questions just give us a holler, more than glad to help.

AWB does not seem to be the way to go with Infrared Pics. It needs to be set manually in the camera - on GREEN Grass most of the time.
By the way What camera What Filter???

Cheers for |years

I think you are correct. Thanks for your honesty.
Am waiting to see what others say as well.

Jim... I have all of the Topaz Plug-Ins, and I love them. I played with Glow, but just don't like it. I have seen a few pictures they posted as examples, and some were not to bad, but most just didn't cut it to me. I'm not big into the artsy type of photography, and I am always trying to get my photos as shape as possible, so I guess this is one Topaz I won't be buying..... ;0)

Thanks for the reply Mike. I'm sorry to hear about your wife having a troubled period and am certainly glad to hear that she is doing better. I sure like that the SX60 has wifi built in so the camera can be remotely controlled with a smartphone or tablet with one finger. Add an inexpensive pan/tilt head to a tripod and need to handle the camera would be greatly reduced. I hope things continue to improve and you continue to get more shooting time in. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Thanks for the reply Mike. I'm sorry to hear abou... (show quote)

Thanks Gess... I hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving too. I had way too much turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy....;0) Still full. I hope to see you on more too, and posting more of those great shots of yours.

My Best... Mike

Thanks Mike. Good to see you - haven't in quite awhile.

Thanks Gess.... My wife was sick for over a year and a half, so I didn't get out shooting too much. She's doing better, but her arthritis is really getting bad. I just bought her a Canon SX60 to use, as her Canon 7D is to hard and heavy for her to handle, as her hands are getting real deformed. I was really impressed with the new SX60, but takes awhile to get use to something new though. Good to see you back too.
