Just upgraded Windows 7 to 10 on my main desktop. It's an I7 with 16GB RAM, 3 SSDs, 3 monitors, 2 printers, a flat bed scanner, a SCSI film scanner and a 50 Mb internet connection. The entire installation took 25 minutes! (timed) including download. to prepare, I updated Win 7 with the latest patches and downloaded Win 10 drivers for my peripherals (just in case, but not needed) prior to starting. Absolutely no glitches. Everything works perfectly - all three monitors (including calibration), desktop is perfect (all icons exactly where they were), all HDs the same, and every ap I've tried including all the office suite (including Outlook). PS, LR work perfectly. I declined Cotana installation and took less than 5 minutes to pick my mail client, browser, etc. Total including customization - 30 minutes, and everything is substantially faster. Was it facilitated by SSD and a relatively fast Internet connection and good preparation? Sure, but after upgrading 3 machines to 10 now, no reason to fear this release. If I encounter problems later, I'll post them, but for now, it couldn't have been more painless.

Hi Friends. I hope the holidays were great for everyone. Sounds like folks found a few new "toys" under the tree this year. I have a question related to storage and backup. EHDs are known to fail...as several folks have said. I'm wondering if anyone uses a service like Carbonite to back up their photos in place of an EHD. I realize that you pay Carbonite a monthly service fee, but I'm wondering if just using such a service makes more sense than buying external hard drives which may or may not fail, at some point. I use Lightroom almost exclusively. Will Carbonite make it simple to access photos which can then be edited in LR? Thanks for the expert help.
