I use a Joby Pro Sling Strap.
With a Nikon D750 and 28--300 Zoom it has proved to be the best.

I can leave the tripod mount on, and it attaches to that with a safety link to the regular camera strap rings on the camera. That means two fasters to the camera would have to fail together to drop the camera.

It rides on a cross shoulder over body on my side by my hip and you just pull it up to shoot.

A big virtue is it is not in front of your body or swinging so when on the go, or hiking up a rock wall, it stays on your side/hip and is not swinging forward to hit the wall like a neck strap allows.

It wasn't expensive for both a camera mount (so my tripod plate would still work) and the strap. I was in NYC at B & H and the nice clerk hustled it up from their warehouse, since it wasn't on display or in their catalog.

Google Joby. They had some nice pictures that show you how it fits

Use Air Drop on both devices, if they are not too old.
Enable on both, and the photos move over you wifi network very, very quick.

This is an outstanding piece of art. How is this done--just a basic idea of how to get here, please.

First look: It works with a couple of glitches. (It should, after all it is a 64 bit program. The loader part, if you have to reinstall is reported by others to not work altogether)

The good news is you can load new photos, edit them etc just like you always did. Everything is as before.

The bad news seems to be photos you have already edited (Develop Module). They are there, but you cannot open and edit them further. They will export with the changes you have already made, but will not open again in the Develop module. They do open fine in the Library module, or in the grid view.

If you do try to open previously edited in the Develop module, on exit the program "hangs"--you end up having to use "Force Quit." It generates some sort of error code that appears in the library list at the bottom.

I think the problem is not the Lightroom program, but that Apple has moved some file crucial to opening the edits you have already done. With that, posted below is what Apple says, with the hope some UHH Computer Guru can tell us what file to move to make everything work.

During the last macOS upgrade or file migration, some of your files couldn’t be moved to their new locations. This folder contains these files.

Files needing new locations.

Some of your files had been in a location that is now incompatible with macOS security settings. These files were moved to the Security folder for your review.

If there are any files you want to keep, you can move them to a new location, as long as it is different from their location before the upgrade or migration.

What you find:
Relocated/Security/System/Library/Keychains/X509Anchors
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.installer.osmessagetracing.plist
/Library/PrivateFrameworks/iLifeSlideshow.framework/Code Resources
/Frameworks
/iLifeSlideshow
/Resources

In the folder Frameworks are ILifeSlideshowCore.framework
and then ...SlideshowExporter.fra...then Producer.fra...then Renderer.fra... and more subfolders

The only folder above that might apply to Lightroom is /Resources/info.plist and /version.plist

Anyone UHH who can help? We own a perfectly good 64 bit program, if we can just satisfy Apples security move.

Do not subscribe.
Use PS elements 2020 stand alone
Use Lightroom 6.XX, not decided if I need an alternative yet.

I now have Luminar 4, also 3 plus older versions. Am really liking Luminar for it's gentle learning curve. I basically started from scratch. Have not as yet figured out how to move LR files to Luminar. I use a Mac, so I have used Photos for some time using Luminar as a plug in. I haven't added anything to LR for sometime. If I need to go back to an old file in LR ,I correct it with a Luminar plug-in, then export it to Photos. Kinda long work around. Would like to find a simpler way. I would like to move everything into one system. Will be watching this. Surely with the expertise of the hoggers, some one can help us.

It sounds like you may be running LR 6.14--not the subscription. Question: on the MAC have you upgraded to Catalina, and if so, does the LR version still work?

A whole lot of us would like to know the answer to this Catalina/Old LR question and would thank you for a real live answer if you have one. Thanks

I find it hard to believe that Open Office will have something as good as MS Excel. I would be sunk without MS Excel. Apple's Numbers is horrible compared to MS Excel. If I were to switch back to an iMac I would consider getting only an iMac compatible version of Microsoft Excel if one exists.

Actually, it is as good as Excel. I agree Numbers was designed with a different user in mind and is really foreign to a user who has gone through the changes from VisiCalc, to 1-2-3, to Excel or Calc (in Open Office) and does some programing within the program. The whole suite of Open Office has been used for years, particularly in large corporate environments, since it runs on many other platforms including MS OS, MAC OS, Linux etc.

A small matter: on our MAC's we replaced Microsoft Office, with Open Office. Equivalent and almost identical programs that will open and save all your MS files (including old formats that MS will no longer open).

There are actually two "Open Office" sources: I have no reason to believe that one better than the other, but we have been using the version from Apache for a number of years along side of the MS equivalents. When my wife was switched from her MS subscription version (she had a free 3 year subscription that came with a computer) there was not even a blip from her (and she normally has big trouble with a new piece of software).

Google "Open Office" and read about them first and you will be very impressed. The download is free.

I have Luminar 4 and I love the sky replacement feature!!!! It is very easy to use, there are many replacement skies to choose from.
I will post 2 examples of before and after.
I have a code, pm me if interested.

I thought ver. 4 was not yet released. You have it?

If you can, would you elaborate and/or compare the catalog feature to Lightroom.
Thanks

The question is which Lightroom/Photoshop are you running?
The concern is from those running Lightroom 6.14 (not subscription) and a Photoshop Elements not subscription?
Can you tell us please?

If you are a Mac and using Time Machine, you can simply restore from any date. Everything comes back including apps and OS

Apple has been warning users for well over a year that the newest version, Catalina, would not support anything 32 bit. Adobe software, other than their latest versions, will not work as they are 32 bit. Ols software becomes unusable at some point. Need any copies of WordPerfect? I predict, sooner or later, that Windows will drop 32 bit support as well. Best of luck.

This is not correct. For example Lightroom 6.14 and Photoshop Elements 14 are both shown on my machines as 64 bit applications by Apple when you load a System Report (Apple>about this Mac>system report>software...)

Not wanting to be the guinue pig I have not tried this out yet but I would sure like to see a post from someone who has.

The suspect is some sort of loading app, that checks with Adobe on your license, that is 32 bit, and won't let the app's start. My memory from years ago, is you could disable the nefarious loader app by some way that I have I never did.

HELP someone who has LR 6.14 and tried Catalina and/or someone who knows about the loader app if we need too.

Looking to find anyone who uses, knows about or has an opinion on this image editing software.
Any good? Can you relate to Lightroom? Any info on "how to learn".
Any thoughts you can share about this program.

It is Catalina (Mac OS 10.15.x) that will kill Aperture and many other older apps.

There is a cycle of freaking out that users go through when computer companies upgrade their systems and software. First is, "But I paid good money for this! I should be able to use it forever!" Well, it's SOFTware. It can be rewritten... or abandoned. (Murphy's law of software development is that any software that is finished IS abandoned.)

Second, we formulate a strategy of clinging to the past. On the Mac, this usually means having one or more external startup drives with different versions of the OS and older software on them. Maybe we keep older computers with obsolete processors, too! (I do this... I have several older Macs dating back to 1999 and OS 9.2.2!)

Third, we move on, finding the new software and the new OS (and maybe the new computer) ENTIRELY worth the upgrade. Then we wonder why we ever waited to switch...
It is Catalina (Mac OS 10.15.x) that will kill Ape... (show quote)

I hope you are not right and would appreciate another look by you, or anyone, that might explain this:

The software (under 'about this MAC') for Aperture (which I have not been using) and Adobe Lightroom (last non-subscription version, 6.xxx) which I am currently using show them as 64 bit (Intel) software not 32 bit.

Is there hope they will run under Catalina?
