I guess consensus is GREAT. Might I ask what lens you were using...

Believe done this same ride and was spectacular. Thanks for the shots. Believe I had to sharpen most of mine due to the humidity getting in the way :-) And thank goodness for seatbelts.

Nice series of shots. With soooo much blue sky out here in Arizona - the clouds are our friend when shooting expansive scenes such as Sedona. Thanks

Nice shots. Yep, those are our Gambel Quail. Interesting also to see them with a "herd" of chicks following.

My friend is home, "clean shaven", lost few pounds but fine. Greatful and seems to have kept himself active physically & mentally. Think he will eventually crash a bit but will get to do that in his own home. Thoughts go out to the many still imprisoned for " minor, " harmless or even innocent actions.
Y'all be safe now & stay aware of your "surroundings."
Thanks,
Richard

Well, today makes 4 weeks. Short "trial" yesterday morning, judge proclaimed no malice, not-guilty & fine of $135. Still waiting for him to actually get freed/home. Do not know if any one thing that helped: lawyer, publicity, embassy (no idea if they had any influence) OR that it has been 30 days. I especially appreciate the cultural info/education from y'all. I will try to remember to do 1 more post in a few weeks after my friend gets home to Georgia. This event sounds minor when hearing of others imprisoned for months and years but I assume impactful for my friend. Keep on clicking & thanks, Richard

Thanks for info. Friends trip was to present at a conference. But sure, makes one think about even taking a camera.

Thanks for most of the replies. We are keeping it in the news (refraining from attacks but focusing on our Friend's character). Lawyer finally obtained & friend now has a calling card. Embassies seem to claim they only monitor & advocate for fair tx... I know family & friends keep reaching out to elected officials AND no way to know if any will/are doing anything. Letting son & daughter push them the hardest. But will keep in news, raising money for lawyer ($$$) and wait. Even knowing/respecting their culture/laws... Take a picture of a public gathering and anyone can press charges... Take a panorama shot and what are the odds of catching the edge of a restricted building. Does not mean I would not visit but would have to lock my camera(s) in the safe! Thank y'all for letting me vent and am learning more respect for wherever/whomever I photograph. Later.....

Embassy not immediately notified, but they have visited 2 times. Gave him a list of "lawyers" but he had no way to call. Family on outside now trying to locate representation. Embassy has not been able to find out charges or any dates yet.

Friend has been in Al Wathba prison in Abu Dhabi for 2 weeks now. Seen 2x by embassy, still has no phone/calling card, talked briefly to Daughter on someone else's phone... Still no one has been told "formal charges" if charged, if bond hearing, if court date...
And yes, everything is confiscated and they did or still going through camera. Article in TheNational, AE and been just picked up by AP. But still no clear info.
One kicker, without friends on outside he still would have no way to even try to find lawyer. He probably did take picture of something prohibited... but what next...

Thanks for interest.

Was not sure where to post, so am here. Friend travelling in Arab Emirates arrested for taking pictures of "restricted buildings." Anyone having history with this - mostly looking for good news :-) "We" are staying positive as friend obviously meant no harm, BUT apparently he did break their law. Do not know how serious this is, no charges or trial set after about 2 weeks. Info appreciated. His network of friends are actively reaching out...
