That was obvious before he was put into office the first time. Makes you wonder about people that would put someone like that into a job like that.

Thanks. I will have to order the focus pyramid and calibrate my lens.

I bought a Rolex in Hong Kong in the 60's and made a good profit off it.

Thank you. I merely ended up buying a tripod as I was forgetful enough to have left mine at home.

Great photos. Thanks for posting. I went to Toccoa, GA this past weekend for the WWII reenactment but it got rained out and I left Sunday morning and drove back to AL.

The F18 Hornet flew over us at incredible speed, near Mach 1 at times. The weather was not cooperative, the Saturday show was canceled due to rain. On Sunday we were ankle deep in mud with intermittent rain, but the show went on. I held my camera under my rain poncho and shot when I could.

I am afraid that you would be out of luck on cameras and just about anything else for that matter.

I was tempted to buy while I was there but backed out and left. I did not if I should trust them.

I just returned from Hong Kong and the city/state is replete with great photo ops.
As usual when I pack for a trip I forget one or two things. This trip I forgot to bring my tripod. One of the amateur photographers who works at the hotel where I stayed told me about a great camera store in Kowloon (a section of HK). The store is Sim City. The building is 6 stories high filled with camera equipment. The prices are lower than in the USA and very few items are gray market.
The stores appear to have every imaginable camera brands and accessories. They have loads of used lenses and gear.

One last note. My flight went thru Beijing and the Chinese version of TSA made me remove my camera from my backpack and they counted my camera batteries. I had five with me and the maximum they allow is two or three. I am pleased to say when I opened my camera bag only two were in sight.

Good shot of the PBY. In the past I flew charter and power lines for a ex-Navy pilot that flew the PBY on active duty. That was at Lowe Aviation in Macon, GA. His name was Jim Lowe. He loved that aircraft.

In 1976 I was assigned to the Pentagon for what turned out to be an 8-year tour. A couple of years into that assignment- 1981, I was eating my sack lunch in the courtyard of the Pentagon. I noticed all the entry doors to the inner courtyard were blocked by armed military police. Very soon, President Reagan, the Secretary of Defense, Casper Weinberger, and Master Sergeant Roy Benavidez marched down to a podium. Within minutes MSgt Benavidez was presented with the Medal of Honor. I cried when his citation was read. I cannot believe any living person did so much to save his comrades. It was the most beautiful ceremony I have ever witnessed.

What a shame. Only one image was taken in the US. And that one is just political pandering. So many great photo ops in the US and our own National Museum picks these.

Reminds me of my early days in Special Forces when I was the intelligence NCO and was issued a Leika M3 with 3 lenses, a 35mm, 50mm and 135mm Summicron plus the light meter. Also a Minox for hide away. Those were the days. Guess I am giving away my age.

What is special about range finder cameras and what on Earth would make a camera worth 10 grand? You could buy two new Canon 50 mega Pix 5DS and a 5D MKIII for that much!
