It was raining hard as I watched the rain soak my yard (yea).
Then a young Coopers hawk landed on some driftwood near my
bird feeders, it really looked confused at the pouring rain. After
a few minutes it flew under some juniper trees to try to get out
of the rain.

Nicely done

Went over to Sanctuary Drive again this afternoon..not sure if this is the same White Faced Heron I photographed there a few months ago.
These shots were taken at 900mm (35mm equivalent) with my D500 and Sigma 150-600mm lens from at least 50 meters (165') away.
I didn't pick it up until I saw the large pic on my monitor but the poor bird looks like it's swallowed some fishing line.
It kept scratching at its face, must be annoying the heck out of it...

It's been a while since I visited UHH. Honestly I is in part to the "sub-gallary :birds" decision.

Anyway.

After the fledgling hummingbirds all left mom and started visiting out feeders we had a constant airobatic show of 12+ hummers playing tag around our front porch.

I spent more then a few hours sitting near the feeders to be up lose and personel with them.

This young male, hatched this summer, became very comfortable with me close by.

I've never seen that pose before!!

They are among what is possibly the most ancient living group of chewing herbivorous insects, dating back to the early Triassic around 250 million years ago.

This one has beautiful colors. Taken in Florida, I rarely see them.
