I use Acronis, and have been for years. I back up to an external hard drive. (USB). Acronis also offers cloud back up as well. You can back up to both.

I'll second that vote for Acronis. It supports versioning, which is a must in my view. Otherwise, you have no protection against accidental deletion or other unintended mistakes.

I just use Windows Explorer to manage the actual files. Using any of these apps for actual photo file management can lead to problems. You can still use them to search and sort via EXIF data or other tags. Although, Explorer can do much of this too.

Hi, I also use Picasa, but as it is no loger being supported, as I am on widows 10l i use photos, which is in the menu and find it to not only easy to use, but very good, it is a junp up from Picasa, but you do not have to be a Boffin to understand. Also I have also downloaded Photoshop elements express, which is a free one, and use that, also easy to understand and use,
Try these as they wont cost you anything, and I think you will be very pleased with the results, I know I am...

I agree. MS Photos is a great little app. Very well designed, and could not be easier to use. I am constantly surprised at how many people are unaware it's there.

It is pixels. UHD is 3840 X 2160 pixels.

We have a 4K 70" TV in the livingroom, and UHD video looks stunning. Yes, the detail is higher, but two other things make a big difference. A larger color gamut is just as important, if not more so. A very big thing that's overlooked is HDR. Not unlike HDR used in still images, but not the gaudy overdone sort. The dynamic range of a movie like the "Martian" is just amazing.

Two other interesting advantages of shooting in 4K. You can actually crop the frame to 25% in post and still have HD quality. A still frame captured from a 4K video is comparable about a 9 megapixel still.

The term refers to cameras, APS-C, micro 4/3rds and the like, that have sensors that are less than 35mm film frame size. Both Canon and Nikon, as well as others make both full frame and "crop mode" sensors. The term really isn't the best, but it stuck.

Countryboy has some good advice here. It is vastly easier to shoot with a good camcorder. In the consumer realm, a Canon Vixia would do fine. Or rent a Sony NX5 for a bigger gun.

Then I wouldn't expect to get anything professional in terms of video, unless you have lots of experience with shooting video on Nikon. The AF is terrible, and often inaccurate. It's hard to see what's in focus on the screen. There are other screen modes but I personally don't know how to use them, but you should investigate those if you still want to go ahead.

In fact, these, and most every modern DSLR, can shoot amazing video if operated correctly. You are correct in that they are not easy to shoot with. Using a loupe, or better yet an external monitor is pretty much a must.

I'd not do full auto on a Nikon. Not sure if these models have focus peaking, but that can be useful in video mode. One shot auto focus can be useful, but back or shutter button doesn't really matter, as Nikons have a separate record button for video. Depending on the lens, I would be relying quite a bit on manual focus. Things like the recessional can be tricky. One option is to have the b&g and wedding party walk into focus. During the ceremony, I'd lock that secondary camera down in a wide shot for coverage in case you need to cut away. Oh, and if you don't own a quality lavalier mic, rent one.

With all due respect, you might see if you can get an experienced video shooter to help with the wedding. Secondly, this is impossible to answer without knowing what camera you're using. If you have a late model Sony or Canon, you can actually get away with full auto. Others are best done as one shot, on a touch screen. BBF can be useful on some cameras while shooting video.

I've owned an Epson Artisan (forget the model) for a couple of years now. For a very inexpensive printer, the print quality is outstanding. The ink replacement set, costing about $100 for a complete set of cartridges. It is absurdly expensive to feed. Epson's ink business is a near criminal enterprise. Canon isn't that much better.

More and more I just use Costco, or even a nearby Walmart. Photographic prints will last far longer. And in the case of this printer, they don't cost that much more.

I can understand the thought, but since virtually all computers, tablets, TV's and so on support both, it's not that much of an issue. Some are just unaware of this.

Or you could shoot in MOV and use a tool like Handbrake to quickly convert to MP4 as one option. I work as a professional videographer myself, and never deliver anything straight out of camera anyway. I feel even the shortest pieces benefit from some form of editing. Shot of birthday cake, cut to reaction shot of birthday boy/girl, then wide shot of group, and so on.

Love those red buds. Often wonder why they weren't called purple buds.

No. Why would you need to do that?

My thought exactly. MOV is just a container usually for MP4, but can hold other formats. Virtually any processing or editing software will read either.
