Ordered the lens from B&H yesterday at about 9:30 AM and Fedex delivered it this morning at 9:30 AM. Not bad. Anyway, went down to the waterfront at Hudson, NY to take a couple of quick shots. These are SOOC JPEGs. Both at 15mm and ISO 100. Same scene but one shot at f/2.8 and one at f/8. Considering where the sun was a CPL would have come in handy, but, I don't have one for it yet. 82mm thread and my 77mm just won't stretch that far! Haven't shot any RAW with it yet. I just wanted to see if there was any noticeable distortion in the corners at 15mm. With my EF 16-35 f/4 L it was noticeable at 16mm. These look much better, to my eye anyway.

I want to make it clear that I am by no means a computer expert, but my 8-10 year old 8 GB HP Pavillion has really slowed down recently and a cooling fan keeps coming on when doing as little as surfing. And some parts, such as the graphics card, are no longer supported. So, instead of going to the Big Blue store, I went to a local computer firm and am having one custom built for me that hopefully will last me as long as needed. The computer will contain;
- an Intel i7 CPU
- 16 GB RAM (can be increased if needed)
- 500 GB SSD (I keep my image files on a 2T external hard drive)
- GeForce GTX1050 Ti graphics card, 4GB
- CD/DVD reader/recorder
- Windows 10 home premium
- At least two #3 USB ports and several #2 ports, and all the normal accessories and connections.

They will transfer the contents of my current computer and destroy the old one if I want.

I am perfectly satisfied with my fairly old 24" Samsung monitor so will continue with it for now. I'm using PS CC2019, Bridge, ACR, and Zerene on a regular basis. It was a little pricey so hope I've not made any major mistakes here.

I always use back button focus with AI SERVO. I had Back Button Focus explained to me this way: Have you ever tried to do three things at once and got frustrated when you messed up on one of the three because it was just too much to keep track of? The shutter button does three things, it meters light, it focuses and it activates the shutter. That's a lot of things to do at once. By taking just one of those assignments away and giving it to another button on the camera the shutter button only has to do two things and you will get better results. By using Back Button Focus with AI SERVO you give the camera the opportunity to constantly focus on your subject instead of just the split second you push the shutter button. The key here is using AI SERVO. If you are using ONE SHOT you can still miss the shot if the camera focuses and the subject moves before you take the photo.

GoGo van Goghgogh wracked his brain (no easy task, embalmed as it normally was in Plutonium Joy Juice) and finally remembered whose portrait he had promised to paint. He worked feverishly to finish the project, neither sleeping nor eating, and interrupting his efforts only long enough to run downstairs and pester me for more Joy Juice (as the Ministry's astronaut/custodian, I have the keys to Martian's liquor cabinet...). Knowing the strain he was under, I couldn't say no.

At last the job was done, and an exhausted GoGo called Dark Lady Kimberly up to his studio. She stared at the portrait expressionless for many minutes, then finally turned to him. She nodded once, and left.
