Thanks guys for the tips. I know that at least some of them do have removable heads, as I replaced a pan and tilt head with a ballhead on at least one. Several of them are in my car, which is temporarily "out of reach". I will go check the one I have here indoors, and see, but I didn't see a setscrew while struggling with it the other day...

I just bought myself a little telescope - ZWO SeeStar 50, check it out. It comes with a very small tripod - carbon fibre, good quality, but short. You need to mount the scope and then level it, so that it will track properly.

I cannot get down low enough to perform the leveling - I would need a crane to get myself back up again!

I have a few photo tripods collected over the years, and I want to repurpose one of these, so the scope is at a more reasonable height for doing this task. My problem is that I cannot remove the heads from any of them. I must have done this in the past, as I have several 'spare' heads. Is there some trick which I have forgotten which will let me remove a head?? It's been quite a few years since I messed with any of them, but they were not cheap gear.

I do have a Benbo Mk 1, but if you have ever used one, you will know how it is just about impossible to get it level!

Look like pillow lava to me... They get that shape as lava cools under the sea...

We don't do Prime. We don't order that much during the year.
As for videos, we have cable, Brit Box, PBS Passport, and Disney+, which is quite enough.

I have had Prime for quite a few years - initially signed up so I could get free delivery on a tv. I have noticed the past few times I have checked out the videos, the majority of those listed are only available by subscribing to an additional service, such as Acorn, BritBox, etc. This applies to a *lot* of the stuff I want to see.

Just to make it even less palatable, some shows are split across several streams. For example, if you want to watch Vera, some of the series are only available on BritBox, and other series are only available on Acorn! It's a great show, but I am not about to sign up for 2 different subscriptions to watch it!

I very rarely even connect to Prime video any more...

I call this the Star of Waynesboro... Actually, it is the planet Venus, about 10 years ago. Nice of it to pose so nicely, especially this time of year!

Not sure if this will work; never tried posting a link before...

I had tickets to see these guys perform a few months ago, but was unfortunately unable to attend.

Beard and moustache since I left the army in 1983. As others have stated, it is much easier to wash than the daily hassle of shaving. I used to have a heavy, dark growth that meant shaving several times a day whilest serving. Now it is not so dark so wouldn't matter as much I guess. Still, never going to shave again!

You guys have a long way to go

This bus (an extended version) in the video is only a tiny bit heavier than your type D schoolbus. Range is 450 !!! km. Charging at 600 kW for 10 minutes gives them 80 km range. 53 Seats and 90 standing places, wifi usb-charging. No mirrors but cameras for better view in the dark...I think it's a good option, but...you need to have the infrastructure of course...

As a school bus driver for 17 years, I can confidently say that no school disctrict will allow students to be standing on the bus while in motion. One of our hardest jobs was keeping them in their seats! The liability issues in case of an accident are horrendous. During my driving career, I was involved in a couple of accidents, and even with all the students seated, it was a mess in terms of liability...

Been there many times. The teenager should be flogged! Always struck me as funny, they come ashore at Dover, and set off to walk to Nottingham. That is probably 150 miles, at a guess. Hadrian's Wall is probably 200 miles further North, past Nottingham... Nice little afternoon stroll...

Well, for a while, anyway. I've been working on things around the house. Once I start, I tend to keep going - bad habit. I should spend more time at the computer.

Jerry, is it even possible for you to spend more time at the computer?

Does anyone remember the 'Cash for Clunkers'? If you do then you may also remember the 'Corn for Fuel' taxpayer-supported program. And...let's never forget the great solar panel taxpayer funding of Solyndra that went belly-up shortly after getting $570,000,000 in a taxpayer loan which was never repaid (ever wonder where all that money went?).

I bought my first ever new car through Cash for Clunkers! Probably be my last, too...

Guys, I want to thank everyone for the help, but I am giving up... I have gotten myself so confused in all this, that I worry about changing something which will really mess up one or both of these machines.

If I need something transferred, I will use the time-honoured sneaker-ware method. I have some thumb drives knocking around somewhere, and that is what I will do. If necessary, I can plug one of my backup disks into the laptop and work that way.

Maybe I am getting dumber as I get older, I don't know...

Thanks anyway!
