Some camera errors are due to internal computer glitches. A few things to check:

Or, if it has been more than a year since it was changed, just swap in a new one. But before you do, be sure the camera battery terminals are clean. Residues can be removed with Deoxit, or with WD-40 Specialist Elecrical Contact Cleaner Spray, either of which should be applied LIGHTLY to a lint-free cotton cloth swab. A mild vinegar solution, followed by distilled water, works too, but in ANY CASE, don't use anything wet enough to get drops of liquid in the camera, and don't spray cleaner into the camera.

If you choose to update firmware, follow the instructions VERY carefully, to the letter. Battery must be charged to 100% before you start. You will need your computer and a good Internet connection to download and unzip or unpack the firmware binary. You will need a memory card, freshly-formatted *by the camera* (not formatted in a computer!). Do not interrupt the process... It will probably take longer than you think it should.

I should add, I only shoot in JPEG.............so files are not as large as RAW

Over a year ago I bought a refurbished Nikon D 3400 from a reputable place that’s often spoken about on uhh.
Took very good pictures I even bought a better lens than the stock lens.

But then I began noticing when I was looking at viewfinder the code R 11. And I could not get rid of it. I looked online and I even called Nikon and they told me it wasn’t anything to be concerned about that it was basically saying that the buffer was full. Something doesn’t make sense to me. I have several digital cameras that I use so it’s not like I was using this one excessively.
Can the buffer be emptied because I cannot get rid of that R11 code. It does hinder you from taking several photos in a row because the buffer is already full. She also suggested I could send it in but why would I pay something like that if there really wasn’t anything that they could do. She never said it could be reset. And if it could be reset why didn’t she tell me how. Is anyone familiar with this? Thank you

R11 is not an error message. It is just a notification that the buffer has space left for approximately 11 more images. This message is normal and appears under various circumstances. It is not a reason for concern.

I guess larry I am wondering it doesn't go away when you turn the camera off/on....why it doesn't empty itself....

You probably want to use <quote reply> so we have half a chance of relating answers back to questions.

What are you saying?

R11 displays when the camera turns on?

The camera doesn't capture images?

The camera doesn't capture images for multiple second bursts?

The R11 message occurs only with certain lenses?

Other?

awwwwwwwwwwww...thank you for this tip....I haven't been on in a while so thot reply was sufficient....
R11 only show when you depress shutter button to focus.

well obviously that is not happening but it surely makes sense to me....like I said, Nikon didn't seem....concerned about it.
As I mentioned, this is not my exclusive camera.....I would say those would be my MFT. However, I replaced my Nikon D50 which still takes great pic w/ this one.....hmmmm

Actually I need to find the kit lens....I think I have one. I bought a used sigma 17-50 DC EX HSM
Takes good photos but I can't say exactly when this happened.....

Ok found the kit lens but still no difference.....hmm.
I do know if I take maybe 3-5 pic, it wants to 'hang' while its......?.....buffering? Nikon said not to worry about it but something tells me that while its taking pictures, its not.....right to see R11

Yes, explained to nikon that when I turned it on on the far right it showed 1.8 in brackets BUT as soon as you push the shutter button to focus, you get R11

Lots of good info here.
Have changed card and reformatted it a couple times....sandisk EXTREME 32gb rate 1 (10)

When you turn the camera on, in the far right it says 1.8 but when you depress the shutter button (w/o taking shot) thats when the R11 shows up.

Amazon delivery has tanked, as far as I'm concerned. Amazon is now my last choice when I'm shopping. Nothing arrives in less that a week. I'll get an email saying the item has shipped "Two-Day Delivery," and it tells me that the package will arrive in a week or more. I called and asked about this a while ago, and she said that the 2-day deal means after it has shipped. It never was that way, and I still don't get packages within two days of shipping.

Other parts of the country still have fast delivery, but not here. If other companies can ship within two or three days, why can't Amazon?

I had the same complaint and found them. However it was not because packages were being delivered elsewhere it was because we are still paying for the prime pricing, with free delivery and promised delivery within a couple of days. And it clearly now is taking up to a week on each transaction. I told them if they had made a change to their policy they should’ve notified us because we are still paying the price I requested. No answer other than we’re sorry.... And we will pass it on to the appropriate person. I am very reluctant to want to renew my prime membership.
