That snake is hungry

I was out hiking with the family and we decided to head down towards the river. Water level was pretty low so some of the bank that is normally under water was just wet. We were looking for crawdads when I happened to back track and saw a small catfish moving. I did a double take and saw that a rat snake had gotten it's mouth around it and was trying to eat it. I did notice that the fish was still breathing (trying to). We watched it for a little while, but I told my wife no way this snake swallows this fish. If I were by myself I would have sat there for hours watching :) needless to say we left the snake alone to his meal while we continued our hike.

Thanks Jim. I use Photoshop CS2. There is a text tool - T I select it then on the photo left click and drag to size my box. I hold down alt and hit 0169 and it will put on the copyright symbol. Then type your name. You can change the font and size also. When your done use the pointer tool (forget the real name) and you can move your text where you like on your image.

Updated the contrast in CS2 to +25. Esther I tried the 15 brightness and 40 contrast and I felt it was a little overpowering to my eye. I'll play around with it a little more in CS2 and not in Photomatx to see if I can get something I like.

First off, I respect and appreciates everyone opinion. Please don't feel afraid to hurt my feelings :)

I believe this was taken back in 2008. At the time I felt this image was awesome, over time looking at it, it went from awesome to good. Now I look at it and I still love it, but it's just missing something. I thought I would mess around with Photomatix and see what I could do. I sort of liked image 2 because it turned it from bland to an image with some details. Although image #2 I hate the glow around the capitol and not a fan of how the sky turned out. I don't want to user to focus on the sky or the glow which is what I feel is happening with #2. I still want the focus to be on the capitol and the arc of the bottom which I think is a cool touch in the photo. EstherP I'll try to mess with what you said, I have Cs2 but I think I know what your talking about.

I took a photo in DC of the capital. It's one of my favorites that I took; however while I really like the original, I like the enhanced version as well. I like the way the capital looks but I hate the sky. I was wanting to get some opinions of the two images and any input from some others on the site. Would you change anything, if so what?

Tripod head question.. No clue

I did a google search on this, and I saw a Trey Ratcliff video of him showing users how to use a gambal tripod. The lens he had on his camera was like a telescope used at NASA, it was unreal. back to the point I was going to make, I might now be ready for these types of tripods, as I don't have a heavy camera nor can I afford them :) from what I was seeing these can range from a few hundred bucks past 1k.

very nice work. The detail is great, hard to imagine that you took the pictures while they were in flight. That last pic, when you said they were model's I didn't vision that they were that big! Damn!

woods and sunset photos

I love hiking, (with or without the kids), I often will be walking and something just looks cool and I take a picture. Sometimes they turn out ok and others not so much. I touched up this woods pic tonight, it was taken back in 2007 on a Canon PowerShot SD800 IS.

The sunset was taken 2 days ago. I was driving back home and lucky for me the camera was in the back seat. I pulled over and started snapping away. It was done on my Nikon D3100. I like how the tree line is black and is not really visible. I didn't plan for that to happen.
