Good point alby. I, at first though it had just sagged over the years; but now that you mention it, in looking closely at the joints and the periphery it was made that way. Another credit to the builders to get those angles correct and cut everything with hand tools!

There's not a carpenter alive that i know would build a door cockeyed as you say , clean your glasses and look again.

There is no justifiable reason for this type of ethnocentric slight to be published in this Forum, in any of its categories. It is tasteless. It is not a question of political correctness; it is, rather, a vestige of abusive and misguided privilege that should not be given a platform in this Forum.

And just who made you judge and jury?????????

If only the states could put a tax on gasoline, bridges, highways, licenses, registrations, etc., they could make all our roads perfect. Oh, wait! They do make us pay extra for all those things.

Trouble is they use the revenue for something else.

I read that the Edmund Fitzgerald was about 600 feet long and sunk in about 300 feet of water. The author thought that it probably became nose heavy from a shifting load and that the bow was submerged by a large wave and possibly nosed into the lake bottom. I don't remember where I read that but I remember thinking it was tragically ironic that the ship was longer than the lake depth.

It's pretty obvious that the author was never aboard an ore carrier if he thought she nosed down from the load shifting, i sailed on them in the mid 1940's and the hatches of the ore compartments are only 12 feet wide , and the chance of the load shifting is nil .

My first cruise was on CV 12, and i'd hate to think of going through customs from one of those 15/18 story jobs, can't even guess how long that would take.
