How can you rate digital cameras, when you are allowed to alter the quality of the final print?

Resolution targets are used like the ones at http://www.imaging-resource.com/SCAN/DSMP/DSMPICS.HTM. ISO is reviewing one now #12653-3 which would be good for testing cameras and lenses. You can additionally use a digital version to create a printed target to test your print reproduction.

I agree with the Lightroom comments. Lightroom also integrates with Photoshop, so for instance if you want to do a focus series you can select the images and send them with the command to combine the series which is a nice time saver. One product good for organizing if you don't have Lightroom is ACDSee which also offers some conversion utility functions. Both offer free trials.

I have been waiting forever (it seems like) for a digital camera to come along that would match medium format film quality and now I have it. Until now I have done some things with simpler digitals, and an Infrared conversion. Look for new entries on http://www.turnerdata.com/photography/ when I'm able to get some more shots in my portfolio.
