It would be interesting to compare the digitally cropped image with a crop from the normal image to the same FoV. Electronic tele converter is another name for digital zoom, which, when used on a high res sensor with a good processor like the Sony, yields pretty good results!

I was down by the beach today and saw a couple of guys playing paddle ball, so I went for some action shots. However, and interesting development made for a cute story, documented here.

Nice rally action

I've been off the forum for a while, but finally got out today to exercise the camera! Happened upon this girl in a hammock with her dog. She looked up, saw me and flashed this great smile. Naturally I fired off a couple of shots, the best of which is below in two versions. I was not sure if cropping was the right move but do like it. Might even try a tighter crop. Realized too late that had I got the dog to look at me it would have been a better shot but hindsight is always 20/20. Would be interested to hear comments on the photo and crop.

I went to a car show today and happened to turn around in time to see this little fella shooting pictures! His dad had set him up with an old Canon and told me he is only 5 years old! I was not close so this is a big crop but it still looks decently sharp.

"The Land of the Midnight Sun" In 1955 I spent seven month in the Klondike gold fields placer mining, didn't get rich but I have wonderfully memories of a place not seen by many.

These are great photos of some magnificent landscapes, well done. Makes me want to visit the area!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!

I was playing around with some of my "rejected" shots and decided to see if they could be saved. The result below is from an overexposed shot with completely blown sky and low contrast building. Just an example of what can be done with software!

Modified Shot with fake sky

Wonderful series, especially the winding road at sunset.

I like that one too, the sky is very interesting, thanks for looking.

Mmhh, I see you managed to get to the bridge on a day when nobody was jumping off of it! Nice set of pictures.

I understand that the bridge is the only one in the USA that allows sky divers to jump off of and it is very popular! Apparently a woman died last year when her chute failed to open, very tragic accident. I was there late in the evening so did not see anyone jump. Glad you liked my photos.

Where is Shoshone falls?

Flowing pretty good right now I understand.

Shoshone falls is nearby, but I did not visit this trip. The Snake was flowing well so I imagine Shoshone is very good. Been raining quite a bit in the area.

I like the scenes very much. I like the way you shot them and processed them. And I want to play that golf course. Totally great.

Ah yes, the golf course was spectacular and in good condition. Wish I'd had time to play; maybe next time. Glad you liked the shots.
