for windows 10 , click on the start icon on the bottom left , then click on Settings , then click on Personalization in the upper right . On the left side where it says Background , does it say Slideshow , if so , you can click on the small arrow on the right side of the box and change it . This may help or may not depending on what you have on your computer running .Tommy

I have tried that and select background there is two choices and they are set to picture and fit. I have tried to reset every setting choice on the computer and nothing that I can find is set to slideshow

What operating system?

Sounds like you may have the screen saver set to run a slideshow after X minutes of user inactivity. (I do.)

On win 7 - right-mouse click on nothing (no icon), at the bottom of the list select "Personalize", check the screen saver parameters on the right.

You should also be able to stop it by moving the mouse.

For some reason every time I leave my desk for a period of time my computer goes into slideshow, I can stop it with a Ctrl Esc but I can't get rid of it. I have been trying for about three weeks, I have looked at every program on my computer for something that says stops slideshow. I wonder if this gould be in the latest windows upgrade? I have to ask for help because I have very little computer knowledge. Thanks in advance. REJ.

Has anyone used this program, for which ads appear every day on the Hog? And does anyone know if there's a free trial?

The thick brush in deep South Texas seems nondescript. Seen from the road at highway speeds, the brush appears monotonous. In reality there are dozens if not hundreds of brushy plant species. I can identify many of these brushy plants, but not all. Most have significant thorns.

One of my goals this past year was to capture various bird species on pretty brushy perches for a photo contest. The earlier drought and then the hard freeze in Texas in February 2021 impacted the flowering of the brush during my photoshoot period. Nevertheless, I still acquired hundreds of shots like the following. These are all of Northern Cardinals.

I hope you enjoy these images, particularly you folks dealing with low temperatures at this time of year.

Hey Guys. I haven't been on here in a while. Life gets busy sometimes. Anyway trying to get back to taking some pics. I was practicing with my Pug Oscar. I was trying to draw the attention to his face with a shallow depth of field.

This is raw and unprocessed (I'm not very good with Lightroom.)

Any tips or critique on the composition or settings would be appreciated.

Donnie

I was taught never to shoot directly into the sun, but sometimes there is an affect that I would like to record. The first image is what the camera recorded and the second is my attempt to make it look like what I think I saw. The third image is of the settings applied in LR.
These are not photographs at which to marvel, but to see if others have tried to handle the situation, and how they do it.

I like the way you showed us non pros how you did it, more like it please. REJ.

This is from the first night and the male lion we saw after dark. I have never heard a lion full on let out a roar from 20 or so feet away.
It is something I will never forget! Then another answered far off in the distance. Later that night in my tent I was awakened and it sounded like Mr Lion was right under the tent. Tents here were on stilts and my tent was last in the well spread out row of tents and the gal who took me to my tent said many of the animals will pass under to go to the water hole which was just off the deck. Mr Lion was not under the tent I don’t think, but he certainly was close. Then the other replied and it was like that several times during the night. I did not mind being woke up for roaring lion. The elephants were not to be outdone and they had a lot of trumpeting and rumbling to go along with Mr Lion! It sounded very much like a wild kingdom just outside the tent!

So, I would have to say it was close to if not the highlight of the trip.
I have never done photography where they put a bright spot light on the animals. I think these turned out rather well for my first time!
