Interesting - and something I would not have looked at twice!
Thanks Kathy! I might not have either, but was looking for "minimalism" type stuff. I get sensory overload so badly anymore that it's very helpful to go out with a theme in mind to filter what I see

You said sky was 'whitish' and the posts/nets are dark... Did you try a "black and white" in color??? I have done a couple of those in the past --- remember one was results of a snow storm on dark trees and branches.... Was quite a stark "color" photo.
There was actually so little color, it qualifies to post here in "Black and White." See below.

Is your photo on UHH? If not, can you send me by pm? I'm going to pm you a different shot from same place that had a tiny bit of color that I coaxed further with pp sliders. However, it makes a mottled look in the sky.

Thanks!

Cool bird! The thumbnails of #3 and #4 show the effects of using the wrong color space on this website. Be sure to convert to sRGB when you export to the jpg you plan to post.

Also, anything wider than 2500 pixels, the more compressed a thumbnail becomes. I downloaded #4 and it's more than 7,000 pixels wide. Only those viewers with super-large, highest resolution monitors will see any benefit at all.

Lovely colors and light; the snow adds a lot of interest, but you can keep it there

The color contrasts are spectacular, and the pov for a single stem bursting with blooms is high-impact for me.

Very enjoyable for the mood you've achieved with this processing.

I think I like #2 better because it has the contract between smooth curves and the 90 degree brackets.... And, i really like the B&W take.
Oh, that is an excellent observation about the curves and angles; thanks very much!

The sky was mostly whitish, so a no-brainer to do mono, though I would have leaned that way anyway. Color would add nothing to the story I'm trying to tell here

I really like the pattern formed by the overlapping nets. What are the nets for?
Thanks Jack! They are at a high school sports field; I think was behind home plate at the baseball diamond, but not 100% sure because there was a fence blocking. Possibly protection for fans in bleachers?

I resisted posting a very "busy" shot of nets over a batting cage, after remembering a few vertigo issues with one of my Film Noir scenes and the lifeguard seat behind chain link fence from a few days ago

Y... when looking really close at the right side, the pillars are crooked because of the wide angle distortion at the edges. Not sure what I'll end up doing about that. It does not bother me, because I know what it is; but a judge might see things differently. Grrrrr.

Ooops, aren't you glad to be back?

Re aspect, do you have to keep your photos in a specific aspect ratio for competition? Or, is it personal preference, or having to do with availability of standard mat and frame sizes?

I'm interested to discuss, because when I first went from Canon (native 3:2) to Lumix and Panasonic (native 4:3), I threw away pixels on the Lumix and set it to 3:2 because that is what I most loved for landscapes.

Resisted the occasional suggestion to do 16:9 for full screen viewing 'til that actually worked with a few.

But, bottom line is I crop for what I want the image to say, especially given I haven't printed and framed anything for several years.

Looking for subjects for Minimalism, I stumbled onto these. The curved poles are natural, not done in pp
