Thanks woodweaselfor your comment... sorry for the late response... I have been dodging the Coronavirus AKA COVID-19... Been held up in the house forever, except for an occasional trip to the groceries but have a few months supply of frozen meat, most of which we already had in the deep freezer, a year supply of can and dry goods, a year supply of powdered milk in case we can't get fresh milk, and the same with cleaning supplies, medical supplies, and several months worth of vitamin supplements which I already had... but I can take it... it is the better half that has me worried... she panics pretty easy and has asthma which can be triggered by stress... well I guess I said enough already if not too much...!!! Take care of yourself, family, and friends, and keep a positive attitude to keep your immune system up to par, and take them vitamin supplements too...!!!

Thanks , I'm still a bit confused. So there is no camera lens or telescope eye piece between the camera and your Powermate?

No camera lens or eyepiece was used... Just the telescope, the Powermate Tele Vue 4x as a special type of Barlow, and the telescope itself.

Nice series Karin... Your title "Beautiful Cats" made me think of a house cat... sure wouldn't want any cats like
that at my house... they would eat me out of house and home... or eat me...!!!

I have been trying to come back on here... will be staying home more often now... thinking about barring all of my windows and doors... maybe let one window stay clear in case I want to take a few bird photos out my back window again!!!

technical question....did you shoot directly from the Barlow or was there an eye piece too?

Hi ORpilot...

Thanks for your question...

In regard to your question and to be more exact, although I said that I used a 4x Barlow, it isn't a true barlow... it is a better then a barlow...! I used a Tele Vue 4x Powermate 2 Inch diameter body, and prime focus 2" diameter camera adapter. The Powermate is a better choice for telescopes having 2" diagonals than Barlows, since they are nearly Parfocal. They are threaded for 48mm filters and their performance is excellent with every 1.25" and 2" eyepiece that I have. Both the 2" eyepiece holder and the special 2" flat top adapter use a brass clamp ring for secure operation. And, it also has a very unique feature: you can unscrew the 2" eyepiece housing and screw on a special T-ring adapter for solid, compact attachment of CCD or camera equipment.

P.S. I used my Canon 6D at prime focus... using my Tel Vue 4x Powermate, and my Orion 10" Newtonian, as the camera lens...

Nice shot... Which Canon do you have... I am only guessing that you have a Canon...!!! :)

I have a Canon 6D and take photos of just about everything... most of my bird shots were through my open dinning room window... there is a Dogwood tree about 30 feet from the rear of my house... makes it nice and easy (lazy)... I strategically placed two bird feeders in the tree to give me the best shooting angles... A few of my photos were taken at a local park about a mile from my house which is also handy... Amazing what a little bird seed can attract...!!! If I did this right click on each URL address below... when
you are finished looking click the back arrow at the top left hand corner of the screen and then drop down to the next URL address and click on it... repeat the process going back and forth and dropping down to the next URL address and so on... let me know if it still works... I used to do it when I was on here more often...

I took this Moon photo (see below) in June of 2016 from my backyard through the trees... I took about 100 (?) photos as the Moon moved through the sky and I chose the best of the best after painstaking scrutiny. I also used some post processing to obtain the best image in my opinion... below is the EXIF data from the photo... and below that is the actual Moon shot...!!!

Very good shot, Bruce. I had a 10" Meade, gave to my son, the damn thing was to heavy for me to carry with tri-pod, that was 10 years ago, today it would be impossible for me to carry.

I know the feeling... getting there myself... going on 76...!!!
