The bobcat walked directly to us. We got to one side of the trail and it went down the other. Distance was probably just over the width of a car lane. It never stopped, just kept walking. The bobcat sees people all the time at this area.

The Florida wild bobcat, or Felidae rufus Floridanus, is immediately identifiable by its short tail (or bob) and the fringes of fur that outline the sides of its head. It weighs between 13 and 30 pounds and has a tail with white on its underside and black markings on its top side. It is always exciting to get to see one!

It is amazing to watch an anhinga as it works to swallow a fish that it has speared. It can sometimes be seen beating it on a limb if it is a large fish. But never doubt that it can get it down.
