GORGEOUS!!!! Subtle color. Sharp. (I'm so glad you didn't over-pp the image!)

Thanks - no pp at all (except to add a subtle border ... I lit this with a beauty dish :)

extract from an article on petapixel that inspired me to experiment with this technique:
'Long before the Bayer filter was invented, early photography pioneers had to take three shots to achieve one color photo: one frame for red, one for green and one for blue, and then they are merged into one photograph. However, if there were moving elements such as clouds, waves, cars, pedestrians, cats in the picture, you get unnatural colors.'

so - I took myself off to my local man-made lake (LaFarge lake) - and took 3 shots (with 6 stop ND filter) - spaced a few minutes apart ... and this is what I produced - I think I could do a better one - when I find a better location, movement in the pic ... :) thanks for looking - cheers phil

Very Good. How do you dispose of the liquid in the Bottles?

LOL - thanks :) ... because I am teetotal - my co-workers kindly bring me their empties - or if I am at the recycle depot and I see some potential workable bottles I will offer the guy bringing them in - double the 10c return :)

sure Dave ... but I am here in Vancouver BC - how to ship to you without it getting busted?? Why not make your own - it's very therapeutic :) - I made a video on how to cut a bottle almost foolproof every time https://vimeo.com/215350952 - you will need a glass cutter to score a mark on the bottle (I bought a bottle cutter - but one doesn't need to go to that expense I don't think) ... then I used E6000 adhesive to attach the neck to the base ... easy (as they say in the classics) :) - let me know if you do it and post a pic :)
sure Dave ... but I am here in Vancouver BC - how ... (show quote)

oh - and also you will need to sand the cut on both pieces - 60 grit sandpaper, then 150 grit, and then polish it up with 180 or 220 water paper :)

Phil. Those are wonderful! Is there a possibility I could purchase one? I have a good friend that does something remotely similar and I mean really remote.

Neat idea and well executed. Di you use epoxy to attach the long necks to the base?

I used E6000 adhesive - after 24 hour cure time it's solid as a rock ...

Cutting, sanding, polishing some beer bottles from one of our local breweries ... turns them into cool goblets ... a must-have for my man-cave :) ... I have also done Heinekens, Corona, Grey Goose, Singha Beer (who knows that one?? :) ), small ginger ale bottles ... takes me about an hour per goblet and helps me relieve my stress :)

When my mum passed on a number of years ago a box of stamp albums was one of the things packed and stored in my shed ... I was rummaging around the other day and pulled them out - some folk had expressed interest in purchasing them ... so I had to take some pics to send to them ... good old trusty 100mm macro to the rescue - here are sample shots I sent ... cheers

Nice. My daughter gave me a THE HUBSAN X 4 for Christmas . I have not tried it yet. It looks complicated for a old man. It does say age 14+.

I started with that same drone ... probably one of the most important steps to flying a drone successfully - you can crash that thing many many times and the camera will probably stop working pretty early ... BUT then - you muster up the courage (and $$$'s) to buy a Phantom or similar - and suddenly it's a different story - all that crashing and lessons learned on the smaller one WILL pay off - I am no expert (by no stretch of the imagination) ... but I have never crashed my Phantom - I have courage (some call it stupidity) to fly it over water ... the Phantom has beginner mode which limits distance and stuff so you can build up expertise ... and I go on record - it's the BEST toy I have ever got :) ... (besides my boat, of course) :)
Check out some video I took this year when weather was warmer https://flic.kr/p/JJkNJQ ... (btw - when I used the drone recently in below zero weather - I nearly crashed because of cold battery - lesson learned :) ) cheers Phil

Have not posted for ages ... this shot from my drone (Phantom 3 4K) over a local man-made lake near my home ... as you can see we have had some snow ... the dynamic range of the camera on the drone has always amazed me :) ...

I had the fortune of going to my 3rd ever baseball game yesterday ... and took my little Panasonic FZ200 bridge camera along for the ride ... no need to lug all my other equipment ... this little camera is truly amazing (besides 200 fp video) ... the 600 mm zoom on it has f2.8 right thru the range ... got some great shots - we weren't quite in the 'nose-bleeds' but still pretty far off ... :) cheers Phil
