Just saw the movie last night. I loved it and thought that the CG and VFX were beautifully composited!

And your point?
Multiple films and movies have been made by many different cameras and lenses.

It could just be that the OP found it interesting. Most likely because they have interest or own the FX3. Or it could be that they wanted to see if anyone here was using that kit for work. It’s ok to be excited and curious about things.

Major Studio Sci-Fi blockbuster movie The Creator was shot with Sony FX3 cameras . Any Sony users have the FX3, or its sisters A7SIII, or ZV-E1 which use the same sensor ?

For professional shoots, I have a pair of FX3’s and an fx30. Lately they have been getting more work than my RED Cameras. stills (additional B-Cams) for personal, I have an a7rv and an a1.

All great cameras!

Thank you for responding. Yeah! I do realize that they are older. And the biggest thing I look for is character in a lens. I have most of the GM lenses and they are for the most part awesome! I do have a set of Voigtlander Nocs which are amazing MF lenses.

If you haven’t tried the Loxia lineup, I find them to be pretty special. They have a filmic quality and the color rendering has an interesting modern/vintage look to it. Kind of contrasty but beautiful. I’ve seen a bunch of samples and videos of the Batis line and they do look interesting, but I like this community and have read, heard, and seen more accurate reviews here than some of my other sources that use optimal lighting or other things that really bring out the lenses qualities. So it’s always nice to get real world opinions from people who aren’t sponsored.

And to your point, while I do shoot a LOT of photography, my primary profession is film and broadcast (specifically VFX work). So I have a fairly full lens room for various sets of cine, photo, vintage and manual sets of primes that I pull from to get new looks or to blend with whatever the look of the footage is. It gives me plenty of options and safety nets when compositing.

Hello!

I have the Zeiss Loxia lenses, and love using them when I want to shoot in manual. I’ve also been eyeing the Zeiss Batis 25, 40, and 85.

Has anyone shot with both series? I’ve watched plenty of videos, and don’t have the budget (or mainly the time) to just go out and rent at the moment. I would love to hear anyone that shoots with them and specifically how the images that they render hold up compared to the older Loxia’s. Are they still worth the investment today?

That sounds like a spoof site.

They are actually pretty great. They tend to quote and pay higher for gear that I’ve sold (significantly more than the other sites like B&H and Adorama). And their gear seems to at least be as good as advertised. I just bought a Zeiss Loxia lens from them which would have been rated excellent, but when I received it, there wasn’t even a spec of dust.

As I have reached 80, I find my R5 and RF100-500mm, which I like very much are too heavy for me to carry, left and hold. I am thinking about Switching to Sony with the 200-600mm, not sure which camera. Any thoughts?

Not sure you can save much weight switching to Sony, unless maybe you go to the a7c series cameras for full frame or the a6700 for APSC.

Maybe try looking at the Fujifilm X-T5 with their XF 70-300 lens. It’s really sharp and stabilized which helps for handholding. The weight for the lens is only 588 grams and the camera is 607 grams.

It should switch over automatically. I have one, but I wound up getting a third party charger too.

[quote=Rab-Eye]I have the FujiFilm brand charger for the X-T4 and I’m using OEM batteries. It will only charge one battery. My understanding is that it should charge one battery at a time, not both at once, but once the first battery is charged, it should switch over to the second one. It is not doing that. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks,

what cameras does it fit?

I believe it fits all Sony full frame a series cameras. I have the f60rm2 and use it on my a7iv and my a1. Once I get my a7cii, I’ll try it on that as well but I’m assuming it will work. Great flashes. And they (in my opinion) are significantly more reliable than Godox.

As you can see in the screenshot from Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop Beta was updated today (Aug 5th), but there was no link to actually download it. Don't know if the new bug that has been discussed in this thread is going to be fixed in this update?

It looks like you have Adobe set to auto update and that latest version is currently installed. Did you open it and see which version comes up?

It is a good program that uses artificial intelligence to upscale and improve existing details within your photos. It is NOT (as others have said) a generative AI program meaning that it doesn’t learn from an existing database to create new objects or extensions that aren’t there already.

There are plenty of apps:

Facelab’s “Face Editor”
Pivi and Co’s “Aging Booth”

Those are a couple. There is also a TON of AI driven software apps like Stable Diffusion that you can prompt to do this type of thing as well.

Hi Tripsy,
After taking another look at the resolution photos I took comparing the 17-70mm and the 16-80mm I would have to agree with you that the 16-80mm is a bit softer. Both photos here were taken using a tripod and the same exposure settings (f4). RAW no postprocessing other than converting to jpg during the export.
It's not a big difference that some postprocessing couldn't address.
My testing is obviously not a scientific one but one that I use when testing other lenses and there's obviously more to a thorough testing than what I do.
But overall, I can see that there might be some advantages to going with the Tamron lens, especially having the extra f stop of lighting and the edge sharpness.
Thanks for your comments, quite helpful.

My pleasure! As you can see, there isn’t a ton of differences between the two, but the Tamron does slightly edge it out. The other thing that I like about that lens is that is does a good job shooting a flat color that is easy to work with in post. It might not have the Fujifilm feel but you can easily get that with a few minor adjustments.

I had the Tamron 17-70 f2.8 paired to both my X-T5 and X-Hs. It’s an amazing lens. Tack sharp pretty good in challenging lighting considerations and can nail shots left and right. Their in lens VC stabilization helps a lot there. I took it to Paris and Madrid with the 33 f1.4 and it only left my x-t5 once.

For me the 16-80 was a tiny bit soft at most of the major focal lengths and there were vignetting and moire issues on both copies I tried. I also shoot in all conditions so the f4 on a crop sensor body wasn’t ideal. But the extra 1mm on the front and 10mm on the back are nice to have.

I think you’d probably enjoy either in the end.

I also do video with my Sony A1, A7SIII and A7RIV.

Cheers and best to you.

My small Sony’s have saved more shoots than I’d like to admit. Plus if I don’t have to set up the RED’s that’s all the better! Lol!

Out of my 3 small ones. My a1 is the most used and my favorite of the 3.
