I can go with that, power should be with the people, I suppose you refer to Lady Gwynefere, (the lady of the lake) as an aquatic tart, she went under, and never surfaced. So the scimitar was drawn from the stone (allegedly by Arthur) who became ruler of the kingdom. All in folklore and legend of course.

Thanks Bob, in folklore, men have tried to remove the sword well before the present Royal Incumbents came to power. Yes there would be huge rumblings from the Royals..
