Sorry but can't remember the name but there is a certified camera repair shop in San Diego that often has very hard to get parts, does good work, and very reasonably priced. Will try to locate name

I'm taking the new disney cruse ship out of florida, going with 3 of my 8 grand kids was going to take a Nikon coolpix aw110 but after the purchase I decide it was to complicated and much to small controls for seeing in dark ares and no time to learn, ( yea I guess I'm a slow learner) decided to take my Nikon D5000 Question is which lenses I'm thinking walk about lens and lens for sight seeing, don't want a lot of stuff, I have a 18-55 kit lens 55-200mm f5.6
50mm 1.8, any ideas are all welcome

I would take the aw100 with you. In addition to taking a D7000 or D800 with me, I use the aw 100 also. The ISO can be raised up in those "low light" areas and can produce some good shots. You got it so use it and let the kids use it also. Who knows, you could get some good results.

I don't like either one, but if I had to pick, #2 looks more believable. I guess I am just not into OOB.

I downloaded this app from the Apple store program. It comes with a tutorial that you should read several times to familiarize yourself with its functions. "OOB" out of body, is using the frame as the body (lol). It is fairly easy to use and can turn out some interesting images. Good luck!!!
note: I have it on iPhone/Pad/Pod and I don't know if it works with PC's.

It is called Out Of Bounds. You can go on utube and find out how to do it. Have fun!

I just got "Outcolor 2" for iPad, etc. I just finished the tutorial and it looks like an interesting adaptation of OOB.

I can't figure out how to get my photos from my phone to my computer either...I don't have a smart phone, its just a flip phone. When I connect the usb cord to my laptop it just wants to charge my phone, and doesn't really give me other options....any suggestions?

Read your phone instruction book. Some un-smart phones are just that...

If you are using an iPhone then download an app called PhotoSync. install on your PC and phone. Open them at the same time and they

If you install PhotoSync on your PC/Mac AND your iPhone/Pad/Pod you can transfer photos to and from each other with its wifi connections. This process DOES work. I have been using it for almost a year now.

How do I get some pics I took with my cell onto my pc. There is a small card on the side but it is too small for my pc and I'm not sure if the pics are on the card anyway.

I have amongst my older equipment a 500mm mirror lens with a screw mount. The camera for which this was bought, many years ago I might add, now lies unused as my latest (dslr) is of course bayonet fit. Does anybody out there know if there is an adaptor that would allow me to use this fine lens on new gear?

I have ordered (with good sucess) from fotodiox.com. I got adapters for NikonF camera mount for Canon, Minolta and Mamaya 645 lenses. I just used a Minolta 210mm on my D800 and I am quite satisfied with the results.
Good Luck.

Thanks NIKONUT for your positive comments. I looked on your profile (as I often do) to see your photography work, but you have not posted any topics yet. I can tell you are a Nikon Nut and everyone knows Nikons are great cameras, so let's see you post something soon ok? Maybe some of your Balboa Park shots? Thanks!

Monday was a day of visiting Balboa Park , San Diego, it's an Amazing Place! I also had fun playing with the photos. Since I got such a positive response from fellow UHH members about the Dana Point Marina boats photos, I have attempted the same concepts to this set of photos. Like any of them?

Thank you for doing what I should have been doing with all my similar shots of Balboa Park. I live about 15 miles north of the park and have been there many times . l like your renditions and textures/HDR applications that you use. The "new" view of the lily pond with the new plants is refreshing. I did a wedding shoot there in 2003. That was fun work, now it all fun.

I am so happy to finally see someone else do creative things like this as I do the same thing. My schtick is with people also. I use MANY iPhone apps rather than PC programs as I find them easier and faster to use.

I see the term used quite often in the forums. Excuse my ignorance but what does the dark side mean? Thanks...

If I remember correctly "back in the old days", it refers to the cameras that used film packs, cut film, and more newer bodies like Hassies, Mamiya and others using 120, 2 1/4 x 3 1/4, 4/5, etc. it was the solid slide of the film pack that inserted onto the back of the camera and was removed prior to making an exposure. The dark side usually indicated that the last exposure was made prior to removing the pack from the camera body. This also used on Speed/Crown Grafics, and large format bodies.

Does anyone know how to send pics wirelessly to an iPad? If so, what equipment other than iPad is required?

thanks

Another way to use wireless transfering is by use of app like "PhotoSync" and other "Sync" apps from the Apple store and probably other apps outlets. Most of them are free. I uploaded several of them to my PC/MAC/iPxxx units and can transfer between them.

I have been using the "Eye-Fi" SD card. This card can be used in many DSLRs (check their web-site). It needs their free app installed to use. I have the app on my PC, MAC, iPhone, iPads and iPod. They have various types so you need to get the "wi-fi" for this application. They are available almost everywhere.
