After the rains here in So Calif. I found some Mushrooms growing in the yard. I used my Nikon D600 with the Tamron 150-600mm at 580mm

Nice shot Craig... wish I had more unobstructed skies in my yard... the leaves are gone and that helps a little... just too many darn branches...

Thank you Bruce it will get better when the skies clear.

I hope I get clear skies here by the time the Moon gets to the first quarter... I'll have to check with my program to see when the Moon will be in the best position... hopefully it won't be too cold or windy...

I keep hoping for a Clear night soon. It is winter.
I shot some pics of Orion through the thin clouds last night.
So bare with me on this. It is what it is. Best I could do under the conditions. ANYBODY can work with it if you like. Please do!!!

Thank you very much and I will do that assuming I don't blow it apart while cutting it out a little thinner and smoother on the inside.

I love what the side light does to bring out the dimensionality of it and I like the look you have achieved here very much, but would also be curious to see this shot with the side light toned down a notch.
Yes that's the word I was looking for "dimensionality". Good call pfrancke. Great job Jim. I'll have to work on that aspect of my Macros too.

Thanks Craig. I was surprised to see this post revised, its almost two years old!

It caught my eye because I had the same experience in YellowStone with a Big Bull. With very similar shots too.
I thought I was being very stealthy inching up on him.
Then a car load of kids just came running up to me and all he did was raise his head.

This guy was a lot more concerned with finding food than with me. Very overcast sky, no corrections made to these shots yet, straight out of camera.

I'm a little late so all my questions have been answered. Just saying Really nice Shots MT.

Thank you FM and I'll keep my eye out for more military touch & go's.
I can't wait for the Helicopter Gunships and the F15's & 18's no 16's so far.
I do get the Orions too. Lots of C130's. I live right under the approach.

Neat shot! It's a female tree cricket, probably Oecanthus fultoni (the real 'Snowy')or possibly O. californica (California) -- can't tell if it's basically green (first) or tan with a bare hint of green (second). If you knew the song, it'd be easier (a chirp or trill). There are two other possibilities in CA as well, but O. quadripunctatus is green with four antennal spots. Don't remember the fourth (tan one)right now.

Thank you very much for the Info on my mystery insect. I knew you could come through.
Yes I do live 10 miles form the beach and he got blown in by the strong SE winds we just had.
Have not seen or heard them before yesterday.
He is a green w/ a hint of tan on a greenish-blue wall in the bright sunlight, no flash. The colors are washed out because of the Setting Sun. I do not see 4 anteni.

I've only walked through 1 as a tourist.
Flying in 1 sounds like a blast.
I understand it's a pretty nimble aircraft.
Someone I knew in High School was a crewman on 1 in Nam.

I'm sad that I'm not able to post pictures on here since we got our new computer, Craig. :( I've tried everything I can think of and just can't get pictures to post. We're leaving Sat. for Virginia, but when we get home I guess I'll have to take it to Staples.

Someone in Staples should be able to tell you how to set it up to Post on the Internet.
You may want to give the store a call first.
Our Staples does not have a setup to work in-store on electronics.

There is so much burnout in the sky and buildings.
I don't believe there is any process that can bring it back??? I tried to no avail.

It was just a tease, John. I was born in 1928 and occasionally accuse my camera of changing my settings on its own.
I hope you were not involved in aerial reconnaissance. Our 8th AF accounted for some 80% of our intelligence in the ETO. We paid a high price for it.

My Ex father-in-law flew a P-38 Photo Recon over Italy in WWII.

[quote=brucew29]Nice Moon shots Craig... keep developing your technique and you will slowly get better and better results... keep reviewing my suggestions and use them as a starting point and modify/customize them to better suit your equipment, location, and style of shooting...
I just had a small window in the clouds and only got off Daylight settings.
Didn't get to higher ISOs and Shutter speeds. Next weekend I should have clear skies and a first qtr Moon.
Also I'll set up my Celestron 4.5" GT modified drive to track Orion, Andromeda and the Moon. Crossing my fingers I'll have 3 good nights.
