I think we can all agree, that if someone is determined to do you harm, with a gun, they will acquire the gun and do the harm.

These are NOT the people I'm talking about.

I'm talking about the guy, who just plain shouldn't have a gun.
You can define this person ANY way you like, but we all know that there are people who shouldn't own a gun.

If we can prevent even one of these people from killing someone in a "fit of rage" or anything else, I think it's worth it.

All this talk about cars and planes is NOT related to anything.
I'm sorry I even followed that train of thought.

Some people seem to think that it's acceptable to have people killed, in order to protect their right to own guns.
In this country, we've already outlawed certain behaviors that are in the public interest....like Yelling FIRE in a crowded theater, when there is no fire.

I am NOT an advocate of taking away peoples rights for not good reason, but, how many people have to die, by a gun, before it's too many?

We can start with the same criteria as for car and flying licenses.

It isn't perfect by any means but it's a start.

I don't recall where I heard this, but I think it is appropriate to this discussion.

It goes something liek this........
The Democrats (liberals) believe that all societies problems can be solved by the government.
The Republicans (conservatives) believe that all societies problems are caused by the government.
Neither group is 100% correct.

While we will probably never agree with everything the government does, I hate to think what our society would look like if they were doing nothing.

Comromise....working together...not nit picking about everything we don't agree with.

How do you think this country got this far since independence?

I think you mis understand.

I'm not against people owning guns, jsut like I'm not against people driving cars or flying airplanes. I think gun ownership should be regulated & licensed.

I don't want "crazy" people driving cars of flying airplanes any more than I want them owning guns.

You have to pass proficiency tests to be granted permission to drive a car & fly a plane. It's really NOT all that different.

Bruce,
All I think I know is that airplanes are licensed and regulated.
Cars are licensed and regulated.
Guns????? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Using your logic.....should'nt they be licensed and regulated too?
