Processed this in infrared. Hmmm.

Very nice work. Do you process and print your own film?

When I am shooting, I look through the viewfinder and try to compose a shot that I think will be pleasing. Sometimes, after downloading it to my computer I will find that I need to tweek it a little bit because there is something distracting, it isnt centered the way that I want it, or I might see how I can make it more appealing with just a little crop.....

This challenge we will take a shot, post that original shot, and then try to make it a more appealing shot with a little different crop. Post 2 or 3 different crops of the one shot you took and let us know which one you prefer and why....

Cricket is my cohost. I will be in and out tomorrow and between the both of us we will be looking in and commenting.........

Focusing on the barn was a good choice. Nice work Sher.

Thank you. Now that I've gotten a Digital camera, D90, I'm back to photography 101. This is all new to me now, and I'm still learning how to use my new camera.

Than you again,

Rocky

I think this the right group to post in. I used D7100 body, full manual, f8, ISO 200, 18-55mm AF-S DX kit lens at 55mm, VR off, tripod mounted, 75-100 feet away , manual focus on leaf group in center of frame, EV on my spot meter was 10 for the unshaded areas. The shot in my opinion lacks clarity, crispness, snap or whatever the buzzword is in use now. We all know the 24mpx DX sensor is capable of more.
Is this all the lens is capable of, do i expect too much of the combination or is my technique missing something crucial for good results? Please give it to me straight, i feel naked enough just coming up here to ask the question.

I feel you're being to hard on yourself. Sharpness, snap and depth, may be what you were going for when you took the shot, but results are still pleasing to the eye. It might not be what you were after, but as far as I'm concerned, I see an abstract that displays an array of dancing colors that are very pleasing.

I like it!!

I'm new to the forum and haven't yet taken any photos I feel have the impact of the ones I've seen here in the forum. My current photo are yet everyday snapshots. I hope to get out and taken some that will be god for the forum.

For now, I'd like to show some of my older images I took back in the 80's...

This I took a few years back of daughter

Self portrait I used on my business card.

A made shot, with studio lighting.

Outstanding pics, Briace! Your exposure was on the mark. Did you use the exposure meter in the camera, or a handheld meter? Very nice work.

If at all possible, it's better to buy another D90 or a Nikon that's less expensive, but use the same lenses. Nothing is worse then carring around additional camera parts that you may, or may not use on a long trip. Been there, done that!! Nikon makes some very nice, what I call, pocket cameras, that can be use in a pinch, take super pics, and are very easy on the wallet.

I've always been a Nikon lover. As a model photographer I used a Nikon F4, and on a busy day, cranked out, 50-150 rolls of film per day, and the camera never jammed up on me. But I must say, I serviced all my camera every 6 month so they were always tuned up.

It's been a while since I've picked up my camera. But, like an old friend, I'm sure it will welcome me back. What I've seen so far, here in you forum, I hope that I'll be up to the challenge. The photos I've seen so far.... Fantastic.
