Hi, I wanted to chime in on the opt tech strap that comes over the should and across the chest ......the camera hangs to your side. What I REALLY like about this set up is...........w/ there quick release tabs, you can hook one to the loop on your jeans....so the camera is secured from the op tech strap AND being attached to the loop on your jeans so it doesn't swing. When you are ready, release the quick releast to your jeans and slide the camera right up in front of you. The camera is secured w/ other quick release tabs and the strap that goes across your chest. Go to there site and there is a video. But if you order, Adorama has a far better price.....Op tech told me to go there as there on-site pricing is higher.

Yes, I agree.
I helped a friend get the GX7....and then I was sorry I didn't get it myself......certainly far surpasses the G5. However I have taken some very good shots w/ the PM2 and a few w/ the pl5. The PL5 is rated above many others. I do like everything about these two olympus 4/3rds...except the menu!!!!

Here are a couple w/ pm2

Thank you for your reply.
I also have a panasonic G5 and I do remember setting it on that one.
I will make it a point to use a minolta lens w/in the next few days. Weather hasn't been good.
No wonder I couldn't find it on the PL5. Do you like your? Actually, so far, I think I've gotten better shots w/ the pm2.....but I also think I had the wrong settings....
Thanks again for your quick response.

I have an olympus PL 5. If I put an adapter on it to use my minolta film lenses, I am to set the camera to "shoot w/o lens".....but I can't find that in the menu.
Anyone help direct me to the proper icon?

Thanks folks!

I also have an olympus PM 2 and somehow, when I got it, I was able to find that setting immediately....NOW I CAN NOT.

Today I will experiment. Maybe go in and change a setting but not one related to the aperture wheel....and see if I have to do a reset.....if I do, there is a problem, I feel sure. You should not have to continually do a reset

Ya know, I can't see how the card can make a diff in menu selection either. However it did....immediately. I was told to do a 'reset' for setup and.....well the wrench and camera.....I don't rememer if I did it when I first got the camera last week.....
BUT something else did happen.
Yesterday I went into to make a change in the 'wrench' and when I closed out the aperature thingy was gone again.....hmmmmm
So I did a reset and it came back.....I probably should call and ask why that would have, could have happened, unless there is an issue w/ this refurb.
All I know if the Nikon D50 I bought is 2005 is still going strong....and its a refurb. I'm hoping they did as well w/ this one......enjoyed your posts
Thanks

Thanks. I am sure in the outside shots, there won't be much of a problem. But when I used the 35 in the house and the light wasn't that good, it was difficult to see the dots. Yes, the center red one lit up but honestly, I couldn't see exactly where it was placed among the dots.....it could have been focusing to the left, top etc....so I can hit the ok button and it will return it to the center.....ok.....it just would be nice to see clearly where I am.....incase I decided to bounce around.....
Thanks for tips.....

Actually there was an issue w/ that transcend card. The lcd would say the card was corrupted or not working properly....I would remove it, put it in several times, and THEN it would work for a couple pic. Infact when I was talking w/ the rep....and she asked me about the card, when I took it out and put it back in, that error message came up again. Whatever the cause, and I do agree w/ you that a 4 and upward would probably work, the transcend did not. So I sent it back and exchanged it.....
It seems ok now.......
Thank you for your imput, everyone. Appreciated.

AF-s..........I only bought it a couple of yrs ago because it was good in low light and finally got to use it last august....did great.
The 35mm will focus....it was the focus points in the lens? camera? that have been difficult to see.....compared to all of my other cameras.....black, tiny, really tiny and a faintly viewable 'box' in the center w/ the dot...but so faint in low light you would be pressed to see it.

Mtnman....Nikon just sent me this link. While this what they hope we will use, I can tell you that in using something other....all the displays did not work.
Otherwise, I would agree w/ you completely....

..........all I did was change the card....no settings. They must have it rigged somehow cause she immediately asked what kind of card I was using then told me it was not recommended by Nikon....gave me the list that would work w/ the camera....and....they.....did.
Thats all I know.
I use all different cards in my other cameras but....this one is different and I suspect probably not the only one.
I'm thinking its like what they have done w/ there batteries....putting a chip in it so no 3rd party batteries can be used.....well now the 3rd party folk have gotten smarter.
I'm sure you know how the game is played....
Thanks for imput!

Any of the cards will probably 'work' but they won't display everything.
I couldn't get the aperture wheel to view.....UNTIL I used the SD cards recommended.

Hey folks, thanks for imput..........here's the deal.........
ready?
I got so frustrated I called Nikon. Seems the ONLY SD cards approved to work are Sandisk, Toshiba, Panasonic and Lexar...CLASS 10. No where in the booklet did it mention this so I spent countless hrs of frustration myself and seeking all your help, when this could have been mentioned in the booklet!I was using a Transcend and it wouldn't allow everything to display correctly. So I bought a Sandisk 10/8gig to test this and sure enough, there is the aperature display in the "i" window!!!!
I can't say it has helped by making larger the focal points or the boxes but she did tell me there should be a box, so I will continue to look into this.
Thank you all for taking some time to help me w/ this....and the ' 5" ' thing.........good grief! I always thot the standard view re: shutter was 1/something.........
