Wonderful Shots. I have the T3i and the 75-300 kit lens as well. Could you tell me about how far away from the Eagles you were when taking the shots? I seem to have trouble with distance from me to the shot I'm trying to get, which makes my shots out of focus and blurry.

Suzanne

Thanks, sorry for the delay in answering you. I was very close to the eagles, 50-100 feet. I've had trouble with focus in general but not so much with this lens. I do have trouble with strange colors (magenta, purple) appearing in my images on the fringes of the object. It really shows up in water droplets in bright sun. I purchased a polarized filter but it did not help the problem. I will post an example and throw it out to the forum for possible solution.

Ouch, yes now I ended up in the tree, you did not tell me it had thorns... !!!
Great work Sunfish.

Yes, it could have been cropped tight portait on the tree, but then what is the feeling, why is he showing me a tree...... as you have cropped, the rocky beach now at the left sets a mood for the isolation of the tree; a tree all alone there with wet lands and birds in the distance..

Thanks......have you seen the "Florida Bald Eagles" yet?
I cropped them keeping your advice in mind. I think they are much better now. I didn't post the before image for comparison, but let me know what you think if you have the time.

You are in a fantastic area for photographing birds and other wildlife. Keep these coming!

Thanks Swamp Gator and Happy Birthday! Your shots are amazing. I have some gator shots I'll post sometime but they are nothing compared to yours.

Sunfish you crop looks good. you got rid of the rock in the far left background and positioned the lonely tree at the 1/3 compositing sweet spot. One other trick to try on the cropped one. We in the west read from left to right... in the photo far left is the subject then... empty sky. Try a horizontal flip and then you start in the rocky beach area and then end up high in the tree which is the major focus of the photo.

It is obvious that you have a good camera AND a good eye for photography. By the end of a year you'll be a prize winner.

Thanks Mullumby. I would like to get back to Australia some day. I visited your wonderful country while on R&R from Vietnam (1970). Loved it and the people.

Thanks. I'll be going back soon and hope to catch the eagles (there were four that day near the boat ramp) with my new Sigma 150-500mm lens.
