With all of the reading I have done the last few years about photography, I once read an article about a pro that insists that to be a great photographer you must know your camera inside and out and be able to make changes on your camera without looking at the buttons or dials. One of his lessons was to hold onto your camera and put your hands into a large paper bag and make changes on your camera. He then had a list of things to do, one by one, then you would check your camera to see if you got it right: change the ISO, switch from auto focus to manual, switch from manual mode to AV, change the shutter speed, etc., etc.... That was a great drill, but I don't use my camera consistently enough, nor am I brilliant enough to memorize all those settings. Now with my Canon 80d it would be pretty hard to make changes with the touch screen without looking, but I guess that there is still the more "manual" way of making the changes.

Nice animal and great pics! Wow! With teeth like that, they could really do some damage to a person if they decided to get unfriendly!

I have a T3i and a Tamron 35-70 that has served me well. The combination works well outdoors and indoors for product shoots. Looking for something a little different I added a Sigma 10-20 lens. Wow, I am impressed with the sharpness and color, and the lack of post processing needed.
Then I upgraded to a Canon 80D and the Tamron is not a good fit. Auot focus dosen't work well, at least I cannot make it work. Sharpness is not there either. But the little Sigma 10-20 is even better. The Tamron is getting replaced by a 17-50EX Sigma.
The Tamrom will stay on the T3i as a backup.

My opinion. your milage may vary.

I also had a T3i and upgraded to the 80d. In the process, I found out that I had to send three of my four Tamron lenses back to the factory to have them recalibrated because of the new technology in the 80d. Tamron was very good about returning my lenses in very short order. You may want to check with Tamron to see if your lens needs to be sent back to the factory. The auto focusing was one of the problems. I have been very happy with all of my Tamron lenses so far.
