I use a Canon 5D3 and will bring my 100-400 with a 1.4x as well as some wide angle and kit lenses. I have several tripods and will bring my sturdiest since I will be Denali for a week before the cruise portion of the trip.
Thanks everyone for the help. We have already signed up for the catamaran and float trip but that may not be the best bet for seeing eagles. Tom, please send me a private email and we can chat about other ideas.

I need some advice from some fellow Hogs. I am planning a trip to Alaska and will be in the Skagway and Haines area in September. Can anyone advise us on the best place to take eagle pictures? The wife is an eagleholic and we are taking an excursion to the eagle refuge. What else and where else would provide the best oppurtunities?

That should teach all of us to follow our instincts. Great shot!

This is a follow-up to my earlier response on why I stacked pictures with a macro lens. For this image I wanted to control the depth of field in the background. The light colored wall is my garage. I would have had that almost in focus if I had used f 16 which would have required only stacking 2 images. This 7 image stack with less depth kept the background blurred which is the effect I looking for. Some highlights were blown and I appreciate the comment. I will try and control that next time and maybe add a black matte to the garage exterior and darken the background. I could cut the flowers and bring them inside, but that has not played well in the past.
I needed to stack to get all the drops in sharp focus. Some did get blown out because of the darn sun and my assistant was doing laundry. I appreciate your comment and it will make me look harder at the highlights. Thanks.

I have been doing some photo stacking and would like so critique on the rose. The equipment is a Canon 5D3 with a Canon 100 mm Macro at f-8. Seven images were stacked after the misting the flower and stem to get some drops on the thorns. Thanks for looking.
I like #3 the best since it is a totally different way of looking at them. The Milky Way is visible and perhaps some PP could have brought it out more.

Well done, just subtle enhancements to an already great image.
