No argument there. Problem is the lenses required to do what she wants are expensive and many people can not afford them. I believe she is using a point & shoot and it may not be possible with her camera.

This is a quick example of what can be done with the plug-in Lens Effects by Topaz.

Here is a link that will help you understand DOF. Watch the numbers change as you chamge the f-stop or distances.

http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html

As also mentioned Topaz sells a plug-in called Lens Effect that will do the job. I downloaded a 30 day trial last night to work with. Not sure it is worth what they are asking for it though.

Hears the original in jpg form. Would not let me send the raw file. Trying for a "bokah" effect.

Interesting...This time, I double-checked the files before I sent them, and indeed the first was GIF and the second was JPEG. But, when the photos post on this site, they are both JPEGs! I can only guess that the GIF files are converted to JPEGs.

I was just getting ready to write that. Strange

Just downloaded a plug-in from Topaz called Lens Effects. I did a little playing with it and came up with this. Would appreciate some thoughts on it.

Sorry, I meant to say "which is the JPEG and which is the GIF?"

They are both JPG's. Right click on them and read the properties. Files are listed as 1324937052226-p1010694.jpg and 1324937052226-p1010694_2.jpg. I will grant you though one is much bigger than the other.

What are the differences between these two types of files? I know there's a large size difference between them. I've seen many people here complain that JPEG files lose a lot of information over time but they are so much bigger than a gif file I would think it is the better file to be saving when you're going to be posting on the Internet.

Where can I obtain a copy of a model release, or examples of model release.
Also mentioned up above that it matters as to what state you are in. I guess I would need a model release for the state of New Jersey.

I am not a lawyer so take this for what it's worth. It is my understanding that copyright laws prevent somebody from taking your work and using it without your permission.

The law does not give you the right to sell the image of an individual to someone else without their permission. This is especially true if the photo is sold for use for something the individual would not normally give permission for.

And again there are always gray areas. You were talking about taking photos at a party which is not public land. An individual who is out in public can expect to have their photo taken at any time. When a person is at a party on private property they can expect to have some privacy, and for that reason you would need a release to use that photo.

You should be able to print it, I did not protect it. If using IE click file and print. You should also be able to print using the mouse also. Right click, then print.

If you still can not print it send me your e-mail and I will send it to you,

About a year ago on another forum there was a big discussion simular to this. I copied a pdf file that was made public for my own reference. I just put it up on my web site and am posting a link to it here for you to read. I think it may clear up a few things. I found it interesting.

I have a Tamron 1.4X extender but to be honest I really haven't given it a fair chance to prove what it can do. I have really been limited as far as getting out to take photos. I've had eight operations on my left foot in the last 23 months. Everything has turned out pretty good, I will be needing to wear a brace for two years, but at least now I will be able to get out in the woods again. It's time to get everything ready and give that extender a chance. Your photos prove they can work!

That Eagle is an amazing shot, how did you ever get it to pose like that? The detail in the wings is incredible. How far away was it?

You seem to have a great area for wildlife, I wish I could find some place close by.

It's a nice camera and lens combination. What surprises me is in fact used an extender and got that kind of detail. Very nice photos.
