PP is probably not the place to start with correcting the exposure. You are probably 1-3 stops over exposed in each of your shots. Try adjusting the original exposure down considerably and the PP will be much easier.

When I got my digital camera I began to shoot some scenes with the intention of creating panoramic versions of several shots. Recently I downloaded ICE and was impressed with how easy it was.

Processed through ICE and only minor PP was used.

While this thread has focused on the relative costs of the electric cars operational costs after purchase another issue is where are the batteries and other components made? The carbon footprint of any product should be kept in the equation. Most, if not all, of the batteries are made offshore. That puts the pollution in some other country. Make it law that all components be made in the country that it is consumed and you will hear the hue and cry of not-in-my-back-yard. We are not willing to recycle our own trash but sell it to other countries.

It is great that we are converting to 'green' energy but I wonder how fast the conversion would be made if we had to produce all the generating components in the USA. The EPA would have a field day regulating all the manufacturing plants so there would be not pollution coming from them. Do not read into this that I believe that we should have unregulated pollution. Batteries made in India, windmills made in mexico or south america, etc. We are not even willing to recycle some of the easiest things, like steel and iron, because of the issues of the potential pollution that it may cause. Many plants are presently being so heavily regulated that companies are shutting down instead of fixing the problems.

Factor in all the costs from pollution, no manner where it is being generated, to disposal. No technology is cheap.

Suggest you put in your purse or car and when you are in the neighborhood of a electronics or camera store show a knowledgeable employee to get a better idea of what it is. From the picture the casing around the bulb appears to be broken so may have been replaced and the old one not thrown away.
Hope this helps.

I took these shots in the mid 60's when color infrared was first introduced to the public.

I use Roxio photo suite. For a first look at my shots it is the fastest on my computer. Also has most of the basic editing tools like straightening and some exposure tools. Do not do huge prints so have not tested to see where pixalation really begins. Usually reduce size of images to fit into publications or sending over web.

Dirtfarmer had a great idea.
When I make enlargements I go to one of the editing tools I have and look for the maximum size the of the "print" it gives for the image.
Most of my full frame images give about 54X36 inch prints before pixalation sets in.
I then determine the size of the print needed for the application.
Is the image sharp at that magnification? If so reasonable prints should be able to be made.

I use a Film 2 SD Max slide and film copier. Costs about $120. Relatively fast but the real time sink is editing the information into the slide title. If you are satisfied with Img001, etc then the process is much faster. I also am in the process of converting the family pics to digital but do not convert all the slides from other family members, some no longer with us, to digital as those were their memories and most were not identified to place or were of questionable quality. Pics of family members and other family significant images are included.

The question that you raise is one that many of us ask that have come from the world of film and wet chemistry. While spending many hours in the darkroom cropping and adjusting the exposure we would come up with something similar to what you have produced in your example. But in digital manipulation the ability to produce an image that is not recognizable to the original begs the question of what is photography and what is just abstract art(?) using software to manipulate an image. As most of us recognize the camera may not be able to do all the processing that is required to give that shot that zip that is needed to turn a so-so shot into something that can be shown with pride. Depending on what you are going to do in the final processing it may be advantageous to shoot in raw mode and have the un-camera-edited version available for post processing.

Would like to see the original. It looks like it may have stood on it's own.
