You are so right - in the UK they keep lowering the level of what they say your cholesterol should be - there is big money in cholesterol drugs so that is the motivation.
I always look for natural medicine or alternative treatments as an alternative to drugs but there are certain acute conditions where the medics frighten you into taking drugs and when the awful side effects manifest themselves they have another drug to counter and so the spiral of bad care goes on and on.
I am glad you sussed them out in time to improve uour health and wish you all the best for the future.

Rathyatra - yep, been there - done that... they scared the hell out me and had me really worried.

After the research, I got angry as they didn't tell me about the side affects or the interactions with other drugs. When I questioned them on it, they said the pharmacist should have told me (I'm not responsible for my own actions syndrome)... I'm sorry, but I'm not impressed with their lack of professionalism - if they are going to prescribe the drugs, they should know how they interact with other drugs and inform the patient.

I also found that most of the decisions are very subjective and it appears to me, to be driven by money... (but I'm a little cynical about this ordeal too)...

So, if you are going to take meds - do your own research (or have a 1:1 with your pharmacist as they are very knowledgeable) - and the truth shall be known ;)

Thanks for the kind thoughts - :) :)

And a toast to all -

Here's to a long life and a merry one;
A quick death and an easy one;
A fair mate and an honest one;
A cold beer -- and another one

Shell, a lot can be controlled by diet. No processed foods, no white flour or sugar.

Donna, I agree that living a healthy life style beats drugs, however, there are places for drugs - I won't dispute that -

I also understand that when you have bp of 120 over 65, pulse of 62 - bmi of 7% and can run for 2 hrs that you are generally in pretty good shape - but the Dr's think that if your cholesterol is over 200, you're going to die tomorrow and they first convince you that cholesterol is bad and then put you on meds to control it.

I've done months of research on this and talked to many doctors about cholesterol, drugs, diabetes and all the interactions everything has. Now that I am off all meds, my system is within limits for everything except cholesterol - not bad for old geezer (60+)...

When I was in the service, my flight surgeon told me when you walk out of the annual physical with the gold star for fitness, it doesn't mean that you won't collapse getting into your car 10 minutes later - it means that at the point in time, when he looked at me, I was "physically fit" and good to go. He said as much as they would like, they cannot find everything...

And my new doctor does not disagree with me - his attitude is that the drug companies should not be allowed to advertise the way they do - it incorrectly influences people to ask for the drugs as the "cure-all" to their problems - (He doesn't push any meds in his appointments either - farm country - home grown - common sense) :D :D

Such a "negative" attitude by the newer generation :)

It's funny but what is scary is that's it's true...

I was on cholesterol meds that raised my blood sugar to a point where they wanted to classify me as a diabetic - they put me on a blood sugar reducer that raised my blood pressure and as soon as you mentioned this drug to the next doctor it was "Oh, you're a diabetic" - then the lengthy discussion about side affects of medications followed - generally with little understanding by the new doctor - typical attitude, you're taking the drug, it is prescribed to diabetics - you're a diabetic.

I was also suffering from knee pains and general achy feeling - they told me it was arthritis. After about 1 yr of this bs and much research, I quit taking all of the meds - the pain went away, my blood sugar dropped to normal, my blood pressure returned to normal and I feel much better...

It took me 2 years to get my records purged of the "diabetic" classification - in one case, a lawsuit had to be threatened... Tough getting a new insurance policy when you are classified as a diabetic -

Side notes:
1) Approx 50% of heart failure cases, the person had "perfect numbers" for cholesterol.
2) The blood sugar meds that I quit taking now have a class action law suit for liver damage...

IMO, the cholesterol scare is a tactic used by the pill pushers to generate income as there is no solid proof that cholesterol is related to heart disease.

Complain about too much govt
Complain about not enough govt
Complain about jobs moving overseas

Complain about not make enough profit to the board of directors and then get mad at them when they reduce the biggest expense in a company - LABOR - by setting up overseas...

Make up your mind as to what you want - you can't have both-

The govt has no place telling private business where to set up shop and how to run their company. If they want to collect taxes on the money's made by the businesses - then the govt needs to fix the tax code.

Right or wrong - it's what we have - live with it or change it but stop complaining about it - you're preaching to the choir and accomplishes nothing -

Do you see a beautiful parrot? Look closely, it is a woman with body paint made up to look like a bird. The photo is the work of body painting champion Johannes Stoetter who spent 4 weeks planning this shoot, 5 hours setting it up, 4 hours painting the model, and another hour trying to find the correct pose. Still can't see it? The tail is her left leg and her beak is her left hand with the arm flung over her head.

Awesome talent - thanks for the post and the artist's name. :D :D

I searched in Bing Images and found some more of his excellent work -

Nice photo's - I like the perspective and the finished results...
My father flew the 24 out of Italy - I've had the opportunity to climb around inside of them and see what they are made of... Men of steel and airplanes of metal...

Awesome work - thank you for posting.

I think these would make great B/W photo's also - to me they have that nostalgic look to them...

Looking forward to more :) :)

Shooting live models is not an easy task - you asked for suggestions and Annie just pointed out some thoughts on model placement and cropping.

Search the net for tips and tricks on shooting models - posing techniques and lighting techniques. There are many free training classes and a ton of tips/tricks...

As far as the color -
You took the photo, so you remember the lighting and the colors... Does the final edit of the photo match what you remember or want? Are the colors true (wood in the bench, the concrete wall, the skin tone, the clothes)???
If they are, and you have the lighting affect you desire - then congratulate yourself and print and post. ;)

Great photo - send that to Denny's and tell them you endorse their burgers - maybe they will use it in a commercial and you'll get a free lunch coupon :) :)
