Two observations:
1.) When posting photos for comment or critique, please check the box labeled (store original), so we can enlarge to appreciate resolution & detail; and
2.) Technically, neither of your photos are "Birds in Flight" nor "Birds on Water", which are much more difficult to photograph than stationary birds on land or steel pipe.
Standing birds are good place to start, but not the reason for this particular forum.
What a wonderful way to welcome and encourage someone.
It's a good thing you got a picture because nobody would believe that fish tale.
I like #1. Thanks for sharing.

I have been reading posts on Ugly Hedgehog for so long that when I saw this photo posted on Facebook I didn't even notice it said "are friends" instead of "our friends" until someone else pointed it out.
Lately, I have noticed several misuses of imply and infer. I resist the temptation to correct.
Don't know what he is but he's cute.

Beautiful young lady, but IMO the image is cropped WAY too tight Headshots almost always look best when given some context - specifically, the neck and shoulders. I also think it would benefit from just a touch more contrast. Not much.
Thanks. I normally don't crop that much and I can't remember why I did. This Is more of my normal shot.

When I post my remarks about someones photo . I try to remember that their photo may look different on their monitor. I may even say , on my monitor . this looks to me . Here is a perfect sample of what I am talking about . Hope you don't mind . I saved a copy of your photo to my computer to make this sample . On the left side is your photo looking at it on UHH using one browser . The middle photo is being viewed inside photoshop cc . The photo on the right is being viewed using another browser . So how can anyone judge your photo or any other photo on UHH, when we are not sure which view is the closest to what you see on your monitor or anyone else sees on theirs . This is what I try to get across to other members when they are telling someone that the lighting , or shadows , etc are wrong . You can clearly see there is a big difference in the 3 copies being viewed thru 3 different programs . I must admit I just discovered this today using this test . All that said , she is a very beautiful young lady , and you must be very proud and honored to take her photo . My oldest sister says her daughter could do no wrong in her grandpa's eyes when he was a live , my dad. Could you tell me which photo looks the closest to what you see on your monitor so it may help me better judge other photos here on UHH . Thanks , Tommy

I really don't see any difference in any of the pictures.
So glad you enjoyed your trip. You certainly have some beautiful pictures to remember it by. Have a safe trip and come again.
She wanted a picture that made her look older. I guess at thirteen you have a different perspective.
Going to be a heartbreaker
Eventually most Yanks catch on to bonnets, boots, and wings. Maybe Searcher could do an English to English dictionary. My favorite is the difference in the meaning of pissed in the two countries.
She could easily Picasa and it is free and easy to use. I have found the Canon software to be so so but it is available as is the manual.
