[quote=fstop22]I have the same Lens and find the DOF to be great. Just look behind the car and at f/2.8 you can still make out whats on the wall, A very sharp Lens also. If you want more sharpness then increase the f/stop, but higher ISO will lead to more noise, tripod would help for the slower shutter speed. If your picky about your shots any higher than ISO 400 will bother you. Not sure how to use on cars as I use mine for landscaped and Love this Lens. I guess the hardest thing for me to learn is to always Fill the Lens with interesting things, not just stuff. In your face type of shots. Your shots look like your off to a good start. The backgrounds will be your biggest challenge I feel.

Thanks for the comments. You are right about backgrounds, I was concerned about people in front of the cars and when I downloaded them some shots were terrible because of all kinds of things and people behind the cars. Just using the lens once I love it. I think I will really have fun with it.

The overhead light glare is always a problem in indoor car shows. I think your dof is fine and I like te compositions. Good job.

Thank you. I tried everything I could try to find a position to minimize the lights but they are just there, nothing you can do. I looked on line at some car show shots and they all have them if they are inside.

This is my first attempt at using my new Tokina 11-16 2.8 and shooting autos. I have never had this much wide angle before and would like your thoughts. I was shooting at 1/40, 2.8, ISO200 and these are "as shot". The DOF seems very shallow and I am thinking I should have upped the ISO and closed down the lens some to keep more of the cars in focus. What do you think? Thank you.

I am sure all of us at some time or another have been taking photos in one situation and then gone to another a few days later and find out 1 or more settings were completely wrong for the new setting. After doing this several times I typed up a list and carried it with me to look at each time I went to shoot and finally it becomes habit. This is for my D 300 and may not work exactly for everyone but it is easy to customize it.
Focus Mode, release Mode, Metering preference, autofocus area mode, exposure mode, flash comentsation, white balance, raw/jpeg choices, and iso setting.

[quote=Shutterbug_11]@ auclair784: I recently stumbled across a website that sells muslin backdrops in the 6'x9' size for less than $25.00 This size will work for taking portraits of someone sitting on a stool; for a full-body shot, you'd need a larger backdrop. The website is called "CowboyStudio.com"

I have 3 of their backdrops and they work fine as long as they are against a wall because they are thin. If you pull your subject 3-5' from the back ground it should blur it enough you can't tell if it costs $25 or $100 anyway.

All the shots are great. That is not her bra and I disagree with the crop and the fact her eyes are shut, it makes it special. Good work.

I have a very nice D70s body for sale. I think it has 9,000 clicks but will have to check. I have been asking $300 for it but have only had one offer of $200 and won't take that. Looking for a wide angle or maybe something else for trade.
