There was a mini-Rollie being sold a few years ago but it was more of a novelty than a pro-camera.

Which model depends on your budget and needs. Do you want a laptop? I just bought a 5 year old 13" notebook from Amazon for $259 to augment my other 4 Macs. My main machine is a mini, I have a older tower to run OS 9 so I can use my obsolete but high end scanners. My mother has a 7 year old iMac, I'm not impressed with the quality of the lcd. And I have a functional but heavily abused 15" notebook. Each unit serves a different purpose.

The greater danger is to web servers, many of them run on Apache in Linux. The danger of an individual being hit is slim. Apple is working on a patch and when the post it apply it.

For strictly works that I need to read I've abandoned inkjet altogether. I bought a Brother HL2240D, monochrome duplex laser. It's cut my ink use dramatically and the price per page is about 1/15th that of my inkjet. Now I only use my inkjet for proofing images. The printer was under $100 (I paid almost $500 for my inkjet) and refurbished cartridges rated at 2600 pages are only $12 + shipping.

I am retired. I took up photography after I quit working. My passion is portrait photography. Taking pictures just for the sake of shooting does not interest me. Also, i have no interest in taking snapshots of people.

Unfortunately family and friends are reluctant to pose for me anymore, so I need to get the courage to ask strangers to pose. This is not easy. I have seen many young ladies that would make great subjects, but I would feel like a pervert to even ask them.

Any suggestions? I can't learn if I am not shooting.

I carry a book with me to show that I'm more legit. I use a 5x7 flat book with portraits I've taken.

www.dpreview.com

I like this site for complete specs on almost all digital cameras and lenses available. Many of their reviews contain instructions which are better than the original manual

Just an aside, when shooting large groups I create what I call a heritage shot, I add a key to the picture. It sells extremely well especially to the genealogy minded.

A lot of good suggestions here. When I found myself with the same problem I studied a lot of self-help literature and time management broke down to setting priorities.

Some of these suggestions were stated as rather Black and white options, do this and don't do that. I like to keep my options open so I do both.

The advent of high quality dependable compact cameras means it's always easy to have one or two on you. Taking a picture with my cell phone often acts as a stimulus to come back with my pro gear.

When I had a family and worked full time, once the kids were in bed and my ex was glued to the TV I'd go out for walks, I took a lot of night photographs. When you make it a priority you'll make the time.

I always used an old Vivitar enlarger stand with the head removed and my camera mounted in its place. It's design pretty much guarantees the film plane will be parallel to the board as long as it's flat on the base. A right angle viewfinder helps to focus with a SLR/DSLR. It's also very easy to light and adjust the height.

Another great book on the subject, if you can find it, is Don Lancaster's "The Incredible Secret Money Machine"

The Xrite Colorchecker Passport is nice and I use one in my studio, but expensive at $70+. I use Qpcard 101's @3/$20 in the field. They are easier to carry and I don't care if one gets lost. I bought a 10 pack 15 years ago and still have 8 left. They work extremely well under mixed lighting conditions, like old gyms where burned out lamps are replaced with newer lamps of different temperature.

I've posted this before but it's worth repeating. Choose the lenses you want first. Study features, range of available lenses and consider your possible future needs. Once invested in lenses, unless you're rich. you're less likely to switch platforms if you find a lens you really want.
