Because of the flash cards and lens I think the D70 won out. Thank you all for your opinions. Funny how the answer was right in front of me and couldn't see it.

I have a D70 which I pretty much quit using once I got my D300. While in Yellowstone I used the D300 for wildlife and and the D70 for landscpaes. Made me wonder why I didn't use the D70 more. I would suggest using the D70 since both it and the D300 use compact flash cards.

I started with a Nikon D 40 and then a D 70 and now a D300. I never used my D70 much before going to the 300. My question is when I go on a shoot which camera would you take for a 2nd? I know in many ways the D 70 is a better camera but the D40 is newer and has more technology. I shot some pretty nice pics with the D 40 so I am leaning toward it but wanted some different opinions and why. I am not only carrying it in case somethings happens to the D 300 but having it set up with a different lens and settings so I can change back and forth. Thanks in advance.

Either one would make a good second body, but I think I would lean towards the D70 mainly for the lens compatibility. The D40 won't AF the non AF-S lenses, if you have any, and the D70 will.

Hi PWhisperer Great shots, I am trying to do those shots, can you recommend a quality umbrella. How about the material should i go with satin?
I just use generic white lined umbrellas. Nuttin fancy or expensive. It's more about where u place the light and the intensity it's set at that matters most, not the brand of umbrella. The trick is confidence. You have to walk into any situation and tell yourself....oh yeah, I'm gonna get great shots today.
Too bad u aren't in my area. I will be holding some classes in mid march. Everything from lighting and posing to working with models.

Jeff, what are the dates of your class? Did you get my e mail?
Thank you. Sort of in the wild. They are at a park and somewhat used to people. I moved to about 15" away as they got out of the water and stayed still and they came up and layed down almost at my feet.
Do any of you people writing in remember some classic/muscle cars you owned back in the day? My wife had a 69 Firebird 350 cu. in. I had a 73 Javlin, I'll post some pics as soon as I can dig them up.
I had a '58 black impala 2 door coupe, 3 speed, 348 315 HP 3-2's, cam, and solid lifter from the factory. Pretty fast for a huge ole car, beat a lot of 300HP 327's to their surprise.
I think it was a full sized my uncle owned a 1966 Olds 442 does any body remember what the 4-4-2 signified.
4 barrel carb, 4 speed tranny and Bucket (2) seats. But it still wasn't full size. It was over 2 feet shorter and 800 pounds lighter than the Full Size Delta 88 in 1967.
That would be 4 barrel carb, 4 speed manual transmission and duel(2) exhaust.
You are correct, wasn't going to say anything but you are right.
