Very much appreciate Photoman74's comments, too (I sorta was expecting it to be the case that the old lenses would likely not fit new cameras).

I have been following the UHH newsletter for a couple of months and finally decided to take the plunge. i'm a long-time point-and-shooter (my Canon Elph is always with me), but recently got a Nikon 520P and am having fun getting acquainted with it. Viewing the beautiful variety of photos and reading all the feedback has already taught me so much and I look forward to improving my skills. I have a question about old lenses. We have a 40-year old Asahi Pentax 35mm camera that came with some Takumar and Pentax lenses in excellent condition. If I eventually purchase a DSLR camera, would these lenses possibly fit one? I've read that adapters can be purchased. Or would it be better to just buy new lenses to match the new camera.
