Your review of Canon eos M3-5 is off. A simple adapter and any canon lens you have works. the clarity and color of the images taken is superb and the only critique is that it does not focus fast enough for sports action photography like my Nikon D4 which weighs hugely more and costs quite a bit more.

I met a fellow shooting the new Sony full frame leaf shutter non mirror camera who loved the images but said it was even slower to focus than the Canon and that it had a dearth of dedicated lenses.

You can chase perfection all you want but if it were me and money were no object I'd disagree with your analysis and for travel I'd have first the Sony 7 newest full frame then if not that the Canon EOS M5 based on the results I've had with the M3. I've had Panasonic lumix before and found them to be plebian.

With all due respect, I have different views than you do based on actual experience.

I travel with a canon eos m3 (m5 now out too) with 17-85mm good glass mirrorless with 24 mp crop cmos sensor that's in the dslr lines. Great little travel camera with clear images, good color. I shot 11 days out in Washington state with it and while I fly fished two days with guide in the Yakima River Canyon from a drift boat and the mountains, ocean, cities. Nice and small enough versus my big Nikon D4. Weakness is active sports photos as it does not focus fast enough for that. However, for every other application it is terrific.

the full frame sensor versus my d7000 cropped nikon is so much better that you can let the iso run way up. Motion shots I panned to minimize it but overall they turned out very serviceable.

Thanks...no flash allowed and I was just happy the indoors lighting was not sodium vapor yellow!

Chester, Va., shoot Nikon D4 full frame and carry a Canon EOS m3 for travel. Good glass and these do a fair job. Just shot an indoor dog show of the Potomac Hound Club and the Borzoi ring which the borzoi owners and handlers seemed to enjoy. Tough shoot with no flash allowed and indoor lighting way up high but the isos on the D4 handled it just fine.
